Mittal was a police inspector at Mira Road police station.
Shortly after 3pm on Day 1, Mittal received a call from ATU chief Jai Singh Rathod asking how far he was from Star Bar. Mittal told him they were around 10-15 minutes away, and Jai told him that Singh, one of their agents, was there in great danger. Mittal left immediately to investigate, taking his subordinate Sakre, and they discovered Singh's body at the bar. They called ATU to report his death just before 4pm. ("3:00pm-4:00pm")
