Murphy was a hired soldier working for Starkwood during Day 7.

Murphy was on guard duty at the Starkwood headquarters in Virginia when he was approached by one of the executives, Greg Seaton. He walked toward Seaton, who distracted him for a moment when Tony Almeida suddenly knocked him out. Almeida and Seaton then used Murphy's access card to enter a restricted area where Seaton claimed the prion variant bio-weapon was being stored.
