Murphy Guyer (born December 25, 1952; age 71) played Chuck Toland during Season 7 of 24.

Biograhy and career[]

Murphy Guyer was born in Dover, Delaware, and grew up in rural eastern Maryland. When he was 19 years old, he moved to New York City to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts on an acting scholarship. During that time, Guyer developed a talent for writing jokes and comic sketches. He began his professional career writing for various stand-up comics and improv groups.

Since 1994, Guyer has appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Some of the shows he has appeared are Oz (with Kirk Acevedo and Željko Ivanek), The Sopranos (with Louis Lombardi), Third Watch (with Kim Raver), Law & Order (with Jayne Atkinson), Blue Bloods, House of Cards (also with Atkinson), and The Blacklist (with Diego Klattenhoff).

Aside of TV shows, Guyer has appeared in films like City Hall (with Nestor Serrano), The Devil's Advocate (with Tamara Tunie), The Peacemaker (with Carlos Gomez), The Jackal (with Stephen Spinella), Rounders, and Good Friday.

Guyer is also a prolific theater actor. From 1996 to 2003, he served as Associate Artistic Director for Playwrighting at the Cleveland Play House.
