Hoping to intimidate the British out of signing a controversial treaty with the U.S., the Chinese dispatched their carrier the Shenyang to sail the Mediterranean Sea. Terrorists managed to breach the U.S. defense infrastructure and trick the crew of the nearby USS Massachusetts into sinking the Shenyang. This sparked a confrontation between the PLA and the U.S. armed forces, with the former mobilizing their air and maritime forces for an attack on the U.S. base in Okinawa, Japan.
