Peter Wingfield (born September 5, 1962; age 61) played David Emerson during Season 7 of 24.
Biography and career
Peter Wingfield was born in Cardiff, Wales. As a teenager, he became interested in acting at the National Youth Theatre in Wales, and studied drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Eventually, Wingfield decided to study medicine at Brasenose College, Oxford and St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College. However, Wingfield chose to return to acting before graduating.
Wingfield's acting credits include recurring roles in Soldier Soldier, Medics, Noah's Ark, Cold Squad, Queen of Swords, Caprica (with Esai Morales), Sanctuary, and Holby City. He is perhaps best known as Methos on Highlander: The Series.
Wingfield has also appeared in films like War of the Worlds: Goliath (with Mark Sheppard), The Lazarus Child, Catwoman (with Benjamin Bratt and Michael Massee), X-Men 2 (with Roger Cross), and Edge of Madness (with Currie Graham).
Since 2011, Wingfield has reduced his acting responsibilities in order to finish his medicine studies. He entered College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and was expected to receive his degree in 2015.
Role on 24
Wingfield played the role of David Emerson during Season 7 of 24. Before that, he had been cast for the role of James Nathanson in Season 5. However, he had to withdraw when visa/work permit issues could not be resolved in time. Geraint Wyn Davies replaced him as Nathanson. When announcing his casting for Season 7, Emerson said "I haven't been as excited about a job since I left Drama school. I think this season has the makings of being the best yet".
