Peter Wingfield (born September 5, 1962; age 61) played David Emerson during Season 7 of 24.

Biography and career

Peter Wingfield was born in Cardiff, Wales. As a teenager, he became interested in acting at the National Youth Theatre in Wales, and studied drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Eventually, Wingfield decided to study medicine at Brasenose College, Oxford and St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College. However, Wingfield chose to return to acting before graduating.

Wingfield's acting credits include recurring roles in Soldier Soldier, Medics, Noah's Ark, Cold Squad, Queen of Swords, Caprica (with Esai Morales), Sanctuary, and Holby City. He is perhaps best known as Methos on Highlander: The Series.

Role on 24

Wingfield played the role of David Emerson during Season 7 of 24. Before that, he had been cast for the role of James Nathanson in Season 5. However, he had to withdraw when visa/work permit issues could not be resolved in time. Geraint Wyn Davies replaced him as Nathanson. When announcing his casting for Season 7, Emerson said "I haven't been as excited about a job since I left Drama school. I think this season has the makings of being the best yet".
