Rami Said Malek (born May 12, 1981; age 43) played Marcos Al-Zacar in Season 8 of 24.
Biography and career[]
Malek was born in Los Angeles, California. He is of Egyptian descent. Rami has an identical twin brother called Sami. Malek graduated in 1999 from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. After that, he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Evansville.
Malek started his acting career in 2004, with a role on the TV show Gilmore Girls. After that, he has appeared in shows like Medium and Alcatraz. He also appeared in two episodes of HBO's Over There, along with Omid Abtahi, Sprague Grayden, Michael Cudlitz, and Lombardo Boyar. He also had a lead role in the sitcom The War at Home from 2005 to 2007.
In 2010, Malek appeared at Merriam "Snafu" Shelton in the HBO miniseries The Pacific, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and prominently featuring James Badge Dale.
Aside from his TV work, Malek has appeared in films like Larry Crowne, Battleship (with Peter MacNicol and Louis Lombardi), The Master, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 (with Angela Sarafyan, [[Billy Burke), Oldboy, and Need for Speed. He has also appeared in all three Night at the Museum films as Pharaoh Ahkmenrah. The franchise has also featured appearances by Kim Raver and Patrick Sabongui.
In 2015, Malek received critical acclaim for his leading turn in the USA series Mr. Robot (with Sandrine Holt), playing a paranoid, possibly delusional hacker swept up in a conspiracy to topple the world's biggest corporation. For his role in Mr. Robot's first season, Malek won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards, along with numerous other awards and nominations.
In 2018, Malek played the role of Freddie Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film was a box-office success and Malek received critical praise for his performance. In 2019, he won the Academy Award for Lead Actor for his work on the film.
Malek was previously in a relationship with actress Angela Sarafyan, with whom he starred in Breaking Dawn - Part 2. He is currently dating his Bohemian Rhapsody co-star, Lucy Boynton.
