Regina Rene King (born January 15, 1971; age 53) played Sandra Palmer during Season 6 of 24.

Biography[]

King was born in Los Angeles. She graduated from Westchester High School in 1988.

King began her television career with a lead role on 227. After five years, she appared on shows like Northern Exposure, New York Undercover (with Kirk Acevedo), and Living Single. She also played the voice of Huey and Riley in The Boondocks. Since 2009, she has appeared on Southland, which also features Michael Cudlitz and C. Thomas Howell.

King has also appeared in such films as The Ant Bully, Ray (with Harry Lennix), Daddy Day Care, Enemy of the State (with Jon Voight), Mighty Joe Young (with Rade Šerbedžija), How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Jerry Maguire and Friday. She appeared alongside Mary Lynn Rajskub in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, where they both played aides to a congresswoman.

Since 2013, King has been working as a director, primarily on TV shows. In 2018, she starred in If Beale Street Could Talk, winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2020, King directed her first feature film titled One Night in Miami..., to much critical acclaim.

Role on 24[]

King played the role of Sandra Palmer, the younger sister of David and Wayne Palmer. Her role began in the second episode ("Day 6: 7:00am-8:00am") of the season. She was a regular cast member of the series, despite having only appeared in 9 episodes of the 24 episodes. Of all the main cast members of the original series, old and new, she appears in the least number of episodes. Other main cast members who previously held this title include Penny Johnson Jerald, Carlos Bernard, and Lana Parrilla.
