Biography and career
Rene Millan was born in San Diego, California to Mexican immigrants. He is the youngest of five brothers. Millan's father was a former singer for the San Diego Opera, which prompted him to develop an interest in theatre. He began acting in his hometown of San Diego at the age of 17, while studying at the University of San Diego High School.
After high school, Millan studied Education and History at University of Redlands in Southern California, while also taking voice lessons and participating in plays, musicals, and operas. After graduating, he started studying at the actor training program at University of Washington. During that time, he was introduced to the Suzuki Method of Acting. After completing his Master's degree, Millan debuted in Broadway in The Wild Party.
Aside of theatre, Millan has appeared in multiple TV shows like Third Watch (with Kim Raver), CSI: Miami (with Rory Cochrane), and Arrested Development. He has also appeared in films like In America and In the Weeds (with Kirk Acevedo). He also founded Millan Studio to coach and teach actors since 1999.
Millan currently lives and teaches in Nashville, Tennessee with his two children.
