Scott Schmerelson was the principal of Ernest Lawrence Middle School, where the scenes at Grant Street Elementary School were filmed in Season 1 of 24. He had a cameo in the scene of David Palmer sampling food in the cafeteria, as a school official in the background.
Scott moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and taught in several schools. He was assistant principal of Griffith Middle School for 5 years before becoming principal of Ernest Lawrence for 5 years. He was principal of Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Middle School for 10 years before retiring, and becoming a member of the LA Unified School Board.
