Season 1 of the Japanese version of 24 began in October 2020 on TV Asahi. It was a remake of the American first season and the plot closely hews to the original, with some minor differences and a change of setting to Tokyo, Japan.

CTU agent Genba Shido is called in for a meeting at midnight, after his daughter Miyu sneaks out of the house. As his wife Rikka tries to track her down, Genba learns of a plot to assassinate the prime ministerial candidate Urara Asakura. As Urara prepares for the upcoming election, she receives a worrying phone call from a newscaster.

Genba Shido rescues Heisuke Satonaka from assassins, and gains more information on the traitor in CTU. Nanami Hikawa passes the ID card onto Tamizo Kanbayashi, but there is a complication. Miyu and Suzu's situation becomes more serious, as Rikka Shido attempts to find them.

Genba Shido confronts Itsuki Mizuishi about her involvement in the assassination plot. Miyu and Suzu attempt to escape from their captors, while Tamizo Kanbayashi tries to get the ID card from Ayako Hani. Urara Asakura meets with Jyoshu to discuss allegations about her son.
