This article lists all the real-life shooting locations for the first season of 24. A scene shot "on location" refers to any filming that took place outside of the main studio set section of the production headquarters building at 6250 Canoga Avenue in Woodland Hills. Studio set locations are listed at the bottom of the page.
This season was filmed entirely in the Los Angeles area.
The opening shot is stock aerial footage of Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Towers, facing east. There is also stock footage of a street in Kuala Lumpur (or possibly another far eastern country). The shots of Victor Rovner walking through the crowd to the building were then shot on a backlot set constructed with fake walls in the parking lot of the CTU soundstage, located at around 21300 Erwin Street in Woodland Hills. The soundstage and parking lot have since been demolished and replaced with the Triana apartment complex.
Stock footage of a helicopter flying over downtown Los Angeles, facing west, establishes the city.
Senator David Palmer Campaign HeadquartersEdit
The hotel doubling for the Palmer campaign hotel was the Andaz West Hollywood, located at 8401 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The Sunset Tower Hotel (The Argyle, at the time) can be seen across the street off the balcony.
With the exception of the initial establishing shot, the interior and exteriors of the Bauer residence were filmed at 4620 Rubio Avenue in Encino.
The interior scenes at Vincent O'Brien's house were filmed at the same location as the Bauer house, at 4620 Rubio Avenue in Encino.
After Jack has left his house, he is seen driving East on Sherman Way and stopping at the intersection with Van Nuys Boulevard, next to the Walgreens (a sign for "Sizzler" is visible in the background). A bus displaying Palmer's face stops alongside him. On the way to the furniture store, Janet York and Kim Bauer drive south on Van Nuys Boulevard past the same Walgreens store. Later, after leaving the Paladio Furniture, they drive past the same intersection, going east on Sherman, while Teri and "Alan" turn left off of Van Nuys and head west down Sherman.
CTU Los AngelesEdit
The interior and exterior of CTU-LA was filmed at a Fox Interactive Media office located at 1925 South Bundy Drive, with the exception of the small scene in Data Services at the start of the episode, which was shot in the studio. The building is now occupied by the online advertising company Rubicon Project, who bought part of Fox Interactive Media in 2010.
Paladio Furniture is a real store in Van Nuys, located at 6732 Van Nuys Boulevard. The exteriors and interiors of the building were used, as well as the rooftop. The entrance alley to the rear of the store was actually filmed several miles away at 11916 Sheldon Street.
The scenes on board Flight 221 were shot at Airline Film & TV Promotions (which was taken over by Air Hollywood in July 2003), a specialized studio for shooting plane interiors located at 13246 Weidner Street in Pacoima.
Alan York's houseEdit
The interior scenes at Alan York's house were filmed at the same location as the Bauer house, at 4620 Rubio Avenue in Encino.
CTU Los AngelesEdit
The exterior shot of the building again shows the FIM office at 1925 South Bundy Drive. The interiors are now all on set.
Again, the alley entrance was filmed at 11916 Sheldon Street, and the store at 6732 Van Nuys Boulevard.
Dan drives down streetEdit
Dan's van drives past E-Z Credito and Airgas West in Pacoima, from approximately 10309 to 10333 San Fernando Road. A shot of the same road is shown again in the final act-in clock as Dan drives past Airgas West and Thai Food.
2350 Dunlop PlazaEdit
The establishing aerial shot of the building is the Glendale Plaza, located at 655 North Central Avenue in Glendale. The north parking garage scenes were filmed at 451 South Beaudry Avenue, with the rooftop scenes being filmed nearby on the roof of the Los Angeles Center Studios at 475 Boylston Street. The scenes in the corridor were also filmed in the tower of the practical locations area of the studios.
There are two aerial shots of Dan driving along the road while Janet begins to choke and is sick. They show him further back on San Fernando Road than earlier, driving north past the intersection with Branford Street.
After Jack drives away from Walsh's body, he drives down Frontage Road and passes a Washington Mutual Bank (now a Chase Bank). He then drives onto the 134 freeway going east, before it cuts to an aerial shot of him suddenly driving west down the 134 past Glendale Plaza.
The parking lot where Dan stops to make Kim phone her mother is located in the same alley behind Paladio Furniture, just southeast of the store.
The opening shot of the episode is Jack driving down Sheldon Street, past the turning for a DWP generating station at 11801. It then cuts to the interior of his car driving east on Frontage Road in Glendale, towards the Washington Mutual bank that he passed at the end of last episode. This is an earlier portion of exactly the same footage used near the end of the previous episode. Then it shows another aerial shot of Jack driving past the turning to the station on Sheldon Street again.
Jack scans in the thumbEdit
Finally, Jack is seen driving south on North Topanga Canyon Boulevard, before turning right onto Sherman Way and parking outside the Scotland Yard Pub (22041 Sherman Way). This is where he scans in the thumb of the dead assassin.
Teri and "Alan" leave the store and speak to Jack outside, again at 6732 Van Nuys Boulevard.
Again, Gaines's building was filmed at the Hacienda Vasquez.
Dan and Rick drive next to the runway of Whiteman airport in Pacoima. When Kim and Janet escape, they flee across the runway towards Lino's Muffler Repair, located at 10388 San Fernando Road.
The scenes with Kim and Janet escaping, and encountering Larry Rogow and Rocco, were shot on the alley backlot that was previously used as the Malaysian street in episode 1. The Malaysian street was extended, and fake walls were used to create the backlot. It was located at the CTU soundstage parking lot at 21300 Erwin Street in Woodland Hills, and has since been demolished and replaced with the Triana apartment complex.
Palmer drives up South Main Street, and into the Hotel Rosslyn at 451-459 South Main Street. The scene is filmed under the Regent Cinema across the street (450 South Main Street).
CTU Los AngelesEdit
Once again the establishing shot of CTU is footage of the office at 1925 South Bundy Drive. The interiors are shot on set.
Platt's Auto BodyEdit
When Kim Bauer and Janet York ring Teri from Platt's Auto Body, they are behind Captain Ed's Shop on Van Nuys Boulevard. This is right by Paladio Furniture and the parking lot where Janet's arm was broken. Once they start running again, the filming location switches.
After Kim and Janet have run away from Platt's Auto Body, they run north down Harlem Place and onto West Fifth Street in downtown Los Angeles. Janet is hit by a car outside of TBC Jewelry Collection at 125 West Fifth Street. Kim is then dragged back down Harlem Place.
The street that Janet is lying on throughout this episode is now a little further up West Fifth Street, next to Frank Court. Dan's van approaches her from the east, while the ambulance turns right from South Broadway. Teri and "Alan" turn right from South Spring Street.
Dan turns backEdit
Dan drives his van north on South Santa Fe Avenue, under the East Fourth Street Bridge. He pulls up under the bridge, where he decides to turn back to kill Janet.
Fifth Street BridgeEdit
Teri and "Alan" drive from South Anderson Street onto East Fourth Street towards the bridge. It then cuts to an interior shot of them driving West on Vanowen Street and turning left onto Van Nuys Boulevard past the Citibank. Then it cuts back to them driving along the East Fourth Street Bridge. After the policeman catches up with them, they turn onto East Fourth Place and stop there.
18166 San Fernando RoadEdit
The entrance to this location was filmed at 1317 Willow Street. However, as soon as Jack and Jessie Hampton drive through the gate the location switches to the Lacy Street Production Studio at 2630 Lacy Street. All the rest of the scenes here were filmed at Lacy Street with the exception of one alleyway (see next section).
Gaines' meeting placeEdit
Gaines meets up with Dan and Rick and takes custody of Kim in the parking lot of the CTU soundstage across the street from the Trillium Towers in Woodland Hills (where the alley backlot set was). The parking lot and soundstage have since been replaced with the Triana apartment complex.
- Studio sets: ↓ St. Mark's hospital interior, ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Van Nuys precinct interior
Jack pursues the police car past Canoga Fabrics, on the corner of Remmet Avenue and Sherman Way. They both travel North on Remmet before turning left onto Sherman.
Van Nuys Police PrecinctEdit
The exterior as Jack walks in, as well as the satellite footage of Jack leaving with Penticoff, was filmed at 6200 Canoga Avenue (the North entrance). However the wider satellite shots place the building somewhere on Sherman Way in Van Nuys. The interior of the precinct was all shot on set.
Ira Gaines drives north on Owensmouth Avenue, and stops at the intersection with Oxnard Street. Kim tries to a get a truck driver's attention, so Gaines turns right onto Oxnard. His position then switches to driving north on Vassar Street nearby, and he pulls into a loading bay of the Warner Center Marriott hotel.
The scene in the 3rd floor conference room at the Palmer campaign hotel was shot in the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills.
18166 San Fernando RoadEdit
When Jack and Penticoff return to 18166 San Fernando Road, there is a long shot of them turning into 11916 Sheldon Street (also used as the entrance to Paladio Furniture).
When Jack and Penticoff are directed to Avenue 26, they run out of Hart Street and onto Deering Avenue, in Canoga Park. They walk South before discovering a car containing Alan York's body, which is parked next to the Calportland ready mix concrete plant, at 7001 Deering Avenue.
The scene at the Gaines compound was shot on the campus of Pierce College in Woodland Hills.
- Studio sets: ↓ St. Mark's hospital interior, ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Gaines control room
CTU Los AngelesEdit
The scene of Jack getting into the helicopter outside of CTU was filmed in two different places - the door of CTU where Nina and Tony are standing was filmed at the Fox Television Center, outside of 1925 South Bundy Drive. The shots of the helicopter were filmed outside of the CTU soundstage, next to the office block at 6200 Canoga Avenue. All the CTU interiors were done on the soundstage.
The scenes at the Gaines compound were again filmed on Pierce College campus.
St. Mark's Hospital exteriorEdit
During the split screen act-in clock, there is a shot of Jack leaving the helicopter at the same location as CTU's exterior, also doubling for the exterior of St. Mark's hospital. The interior of the hospital was shot on stage.
Jack driving from St. Mark'sEdit
In the final split screen, Jack is seen driving North up Variel Avenue, at around 6350 Variel. The Warner Corporate Center at 21300 Victory Boulevard is seen in the distance.
As Kevin Carroll drives Teri along Mulholland Drive at the end of the episode, he is actually driving round a bend on Western Canyon Road in the Santa Monica mountains. The shot is filmed from near the Griffith Park Observatory, and pans from Downtown to the road.
The opening shot of the episode shows the sun rising over the Griffith Park Observatory, shot from the Griffith Helipad on Vista Del Valle Drive, looking west.
Jack drives South on Owensmouth Avenue, before stopping at the traffic lights at the intersection with Sherman Way. After he "lets the cops go", he turns right and drives West on Sherman to Jordan Avenue. Later, Jack approaches the same intersection again traveling South, and Nina almost crashes into the car in front. This time, they go straight on South down Owensmouth.
CTU Los AngelesEdit
Again the CTU exterior and parking lot was filmed at 1925 South Bundy Drive. The interiors were shot on stage.
Keith Palmer is jogging past Marky's Stream, located at the west end of the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in Baldwin Hills.
Again the exteriors of the Gaines compound were filmed in the southeast corner of Pierce College campus.
Jack shoots Nina by an oil pump in the center of the Baldwin Hills oil field.
- Studio sets: ↓ Gaines control room, ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Compound guest house,
- ↓ Medical station 3
Oil pumps areaEdit
The opening of the episode shows Nina Myers wandering away from the site of her shooting, which was filmed on the Pierce College campus in Woodland Hills. The towers of the Warner Center can be seen in the distance.
Santa Clarita Power PlantEdit
The exterior and interior of these scenes were filmed at the AES Redondo Beach power plant (with the exception of inside medical station 3, which was shot on stage).
Jack drives South on De Soto Avenue, before turning onto Erwin Street and stopping at a bus stop outside the IZone building at 6109 De Soto. He performs a u-turn and drives back towards De Soto.
The exterior scenes outside the guest house were shot on the Pierce College campus.
Santa Clarita Power PlantEdit
Again all of the exterior and interior scenes at the Santa Clarita Power Plant were shot at the AES Redondo Beach plant, up until Jack hops over the chain link fence.
As soon as Jack hops over the chain link fence at the power plant, the location switches to Brahma Drive on the Pierce College campus. He slides down a hill and carjacks Lauren, before they drive north up the road.
After spraying Jack with mace, Lauren Proctor turns from Erwin Street to travel North on Variel Avenue. Jack instructs her to turn into 6233 Variel.
The scenes take place in the parking lot of the 24 studio, which had been converted into a construction site. The office that Jack hides in faced north, and when he leaves out the back he runs towards Erwin Street. He gets into his car, which is parked outside the debt collection agency Caine & Weiner, at 21210 Erwin.
Again the exterior establishing shot of the Gaines compound was shot at a building in the southeast part of Pierce College campus in Woodland Hills, but the scenes of Gaines's control room and Teri & Kim's barn were shot on stage.
Maureen Kingsley's studioEdit
The scene of Maureen Kingsley having her make-up done before going on air was shot at the actual make-up area in the 24 production building, adjacent to the studio sets.
- Studio sets: ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Compound guest house, ↓ Gaines control room, ↓ Andre's plane interior,
- ↓ Latham Group building interior, ↓ Cofell Enterprises office
Los Angeles montageEdit
The opening shot of the episode shows the Interstate 405, where it crosses Santa Monica Boulevard. There is then a shot of the helicopter flying past the satellite dishes at the Fox Television Center (where the CTU exteriors are). There are then a couple of shots of traffic on the Interstate 110 near Downtown, filmed from the 7th Street bridge over the 110. There are then two shots - one of some buildings on South Bundy drive in West LA, and one of the 110 interchange where it meets the 105. It then has a couple of shots of the 110 freeway, filmed from the same position as the establishing shot of the Latham Building (see below). Lastly, we see Palmer's motorcade driving along, which is footage shot at the same location as Grant Street Elementary School (see below).
When Jack loads up his gun in his car, he is parked in an alley between Saticoy Street and Ingomar Street. He then drives south, avoiding a police car, and turns left onto Saticoy Street. He turns around when he sees a roadblock at the intersection of Lurline and Saticoy.
Most of the compound scenes in this episode were shot on stage, with the exception of a shot when Kim is looking to see if the coast is clear out of the window of their holding room. This shot was filmed at Pierce College campus.
Jet copter 3Edit
The second time Jet copter 3 is seen, it flies over the intersection of the 110 and 10 freeways. This shot was archive footage, filmed at some point before 1991, due to the large construction site visible, that would become the LA Convention Center. A similar aerial shot from 1991 can be found here.
Grant Street Elementary SchoolEdit
The scenes at Grant Street Elementary School were shot at Ernest Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth. The Palmers arrive at the south entrance of the school.
East on ThurstonEdit
After Jack has loaded up his gun and starts talking to Teri, we see him drive past Weider Publications at 21100 Erwin Street. He drives down the street before being pulled over by the police.
Jack then turns into a parking lot located just south of the LA Center Studios, at 475 Boylston Street. He enters and exits the car park from South Boylston street.
Latham group buildingEdit
We first see Jack driving East on the 101 Freeway driving past Sarbro Solutions. Later, he is further East near the Philips Graduate Institute, and we see a sign for Haskell Avenue, San Diego Freeway, and Van Nuys Blvd. A little later, we see him further back on the freeway driving past the bridge over Reseda Boulevard.
21500 Riverside DriveEdit
The entrance to 21500 Riverside Drive was filmed in the entrance to the LA Center Studios tower, located at 475 Boylston Street. The stairwell and parking garage scenes were also filmed at the LA Center Studios, part of their "practical locations". The scenes on the 14th floor of the building were shot on stage.
- Studio sets: ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Compound guest house, ↓ Latham Group building interior, ↓ Gaines control room
Jack driving limoEdit
We see the limousine driving South on Canoga Avenue, before turning right onto Erwin Street. Then, Jack pulls up by the side of Variel Avenue to kidnap Cofell, before driving north up Variel.
The exterior scenes at the Gaines compound were again shot on the Pierce College campus: the shots of Rick getting beaten up, and the scene of Andre Drazen arriving at the front gate. The interiors of the barn and the Gaines control room were agained filmed on stage.
Grant Street Elementary SchoolEdit
Again the scenes at Grant Street Elementary School were shot at Ernest Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth. The walkways by the grass of the school were used as well as the cafeteria.
Jack parks the limo and interrogates Cofell at Sepulveda Dam, just off Ventura Freeway.
The scenes in the garage were filmed at LA Center Studios, the same location as the garage of 21500 Riverside Drive.
- Studio sets: ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Compound guest house, ↓ Gaines control room, ↓ Ferragamo office interior
Jack and Kevin turn off Highway 14, and take the exit for the real-life Placerita Canyon Road.
Grant Street Elementary SchoolEdit
At the start of the episode there is a shot of Palmer's motorcade driving away from Grant Street Elementary School, which was filmed at Ernest Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth.
Placerita Canyon RoadEdit
The shot of Kevin and Jack driving down Placerita Canyon Road was filmed at the real road, not far from the Highway 14 turnoff.
Again many of the exterior scenes at the Gaines compound were shot at the Pierce College campus - including the exterior of the guest house, the main gate and the area where Gaines pursues Jack in his jeep. However in this episode some of the scenes were shot at Sable Ranch, a movie ranch located at 25933 Sand Canyon Road in Santa Clarita - including Gaines's building and the surrounding area (shot at Sable Ranch's hacienda), and the scenes after Jack drives through the chain link fence and has a gunfight behind the van.
The establishing shot of Palmer's motorcade driving shows it driving east on Lassen Street past Variel Avenue.
The exterior of Ferragamo's office building as Palmer arrives outside was shot near to the main 24 studio - as Palmer's vehicle drives towards Ferragamo's office, he turns from Erwin Street to travel North on Variel Avenue. It then cuts to him pulling up at the building at 6200 Canoga Avenue, parking on Erwin Street (outside the soundstage). The interior of Ferragamo's office was shot on stage.
The scenes in the hills around the Gaines compound were filmed near to Sable Ranch of the last episode. The reservoir is just south of the ranch.
An establishing shot of Palmer driving back to his hotel shows him driving east on Erwin Street, not far from the 24 soundstage.
CTU car parkEdit
The CTU exterior, where the helicopter lands and Kim and Teri are taken away in an ambulance, was again filmed at the Fox Television Center on South Bundy Drive. The interior scenes were shot on stage.
The scene of Kevin Carroll getting to the transfer point and being killed was shot at a construction site on the western edge of Pierce College campus, next to De Soto Avenue in Woodland Hills. The shack was built by the 24 team and blown up. The area was a construction site at the time, and has since had apartments built on it.
Again, this episode contains a shot of Palmer's motorcade driving east on Lassen Street past Variel Avenue, recycled from earlier episodes.
Grace Memorial hospital exteriorEdit
Most of the scenes at Grace Memorial Hospital were shot on stage, with the exception of the shots of the Bauers leaving. These were filmed at the Fox Television Center on South Bundy Drive, and they exit the building next to the one that doubled for CTU earlier in the episode. Jovan's point of view shot was done with a fake window mounted on a scissor lift, although the reflection in the car betrays the fact they are next to a one-storey building.
Driving to safe houseEdit
The shot of Teri and Kim being driven to the safe house shows them driving east on Califa Street, past a house at 22920. They are driving away from the filming location of the safe house.
23033 Pine CanyonEdit
The interior and exterior scenes at the safe house were filmed at 23033 Califa Street in Woodland Hills.
Again the scenes at the café were filmed at the Rive Gauche café at 14106 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. Alexis walks west along Ventura Boulevard to his parked car round the side of the restaurant.
23033 Pine CanyonEdit
Again the interiors and exteriors of the safe house were filmed at 23033 Califa Street in Woodland Hills.
The interiors of Rick's house in this episode were shot on location in the house at 22720 Oxnard Street in Woodland Hills. His bedroom has been dressed with a "Woe the Vanquished" poster (later seen at Andrew Paige's workplace in Season 4) and a version of the "Giant" logo (seen previously this season in the corridor of Cofell Enterprises).
Teri drives east along Vista Del Valle Drive in Griffith Park, before turning onto the Bill Eckhert (East) trail and parking by water tank 113. Later, there is a panning shot over the intersection of the 5 and 134 freeways to the east, where the tower of the Autry National Center is visible.
Griffith Park ObservatoryEdit
These scenes were filmed on location at the real-life observatory.
The opening shot of the episode shows the Santa Monica mountains, viewed from the south, before panning down into the Los Angeles basin. There are then more shots of Kim walking and Tanya driving around Vista Del Valle Drive in Griffith Park.
Tanya drives Teri down North Topanga Canyon Boulevard, past the Coast & Canyon Realtors at 137. She then turns right across the bridge to Old Topanga Canyon Road, and the interior & exterior scenes of the restaurant were shot at the Inn of the Seventh Ray.
Old Church RoadEdit
When looking for her mother, Kim runs from Old Church Road onto Old Topanga Canyon Road, towards some payphones that were installed by the 24 team next to the Inn of the Seventh Ray's gift shop. This is just around the corner from the "Tuptas" location.
1804 Glade, Rick Allen's house, is located on 22720 Oxnard St in Woodland Hills. The interior and exterior are again used in this episode. The house has since been redesigned, and the courtyard is now closed with a wall.
Just after the third act-in clock, there is a shot of Alexis Drazen driving northeast on Hill Street in Downtown LA. He starts off by the Jeweler's Mall then drives past Pershing Square and past the intersection with 5th Street.
Again the interior and exterior of 22720 Oxnard Street was used for Rick Allen's house.
Palmer hotel exteriorEdit
As Nina and Jack leave the Palmer hotel, they are seen walking out of the 2 California Plaza building at 350 South Grand Avenue. The Westin Bonaventure is visible to the North-West, in front of them.
Jack and Nina ride the escalator on the corner of South Olive Street and West Fourth Street, up to the California Plaza water court. A Panda Express Chinese restaurant doubles for "Connie's", and Jack chases Morgan up the steps to the bridge at the North-West side of the court, where he is shot.
The house at 4620 Rubio Avenue in Encino is again used for the Bauer house, this time the garden in front of the house.
The interior and exterior of 4620 Rubio Avenue provide the location for the Bauer house scenes.
Jack and Nina talk on the steps at the North-West side of the water court again, and George Mason pulls up on South Grand Avenue opposite the Wells Fargo Center.
Again, 22720 Oxnard Street is used for Rick's house.
Hotel conference roomEdit
The downstairs area of the hotel where Palmer delivers his press conference, as well as the adjoining kitchen, was shot in the Warner Center Marriott Hotel. The other scenes at Palmer's hotel were again shot on stage.
The scenes in Saugus were shot on the property of Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Jack and George arrive near to the lake and walk through a gate, while the lake is visible ahead of them (despite Jack saying there's no water in the area). They later find a power transformer, which was built there by the 24 team.
- Studio sets: ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Kim's jail interior, ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ 21911 Kipling interior,
- ↓ Phil's hospital interior
Again the scenes in Saugus were shot on Pierce College campus. The exterior of 21911 Kipling Avenue was built in a field on near the south of the property, and a small domed shelter was built where Andre Drazen stakes out from.
When Tony is driving Teri to the hospital from the Bauer House (at the 07:27 act-in clock), he is seen driving past the Babyland shop at 7134 Topanga Canyon Boulevard. He is driving North up the road.
- Studio sets: ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ Kim's jail interior, ↓ CTU interior, ↓ 21911 Kipling interior, ↓ Division
Again the exterior entrance of the prison was located in a field on Pierce College campus, built specially by the 24 team. The flood egress where the Drazens escape was also built at the end of a creek bed at the south of the campus - the vans then drive north up the creek bed.
Kim is driven out of the jail, which was in fact just the parking lot of the CTU soundstage below the Trillium Towers (the same entrance Jack and Lauren Proctor drive into in episode 9). The car drives east and gets crashed into just as it reaches Variel Avenue.
- Studio sets: ↓ Palmer hotel suite, ↓ CTU interior, ↓ Alexis's hospital, ↓ Nikola's Delights interior
Again the scenes of Kim being kidnapped were shot just off Variel Avenue next to the Home Depot, with her kidnappers driving away north on Variel. After she has been tied up, there is an aerial shot of her kidnappers driving away along the 134 Freeway past Glendale Plaza (a similar shot to the one in 1:00am-2:00am).
The scenes at the celebration party ballroom in Palmer's hotel were shot at the Warner Center Marriott on Oxnard Street. The scene in the suite upstairs was shot on stage.
Driving to restaurantEdit
The shot of the Drazens' van driving along, just before Jack calls Nina, shows it driving west on Anaheim Street past the railway crossing next to the intersection with Alameda Street in Wilmington.
Driving to oil pumpsEdit
There is another shot of the Drazens' van driving, this time east on I Street in Wilmington. The Dreams strip club on Cristobal Avenue is visible in the background.
Jack is taken and handcuffed to the oil pumps in Baldwin Hills. The van drives east on S Fairfax Avenue, passing the bridge over S La Cienega Boulevard, and Jack is handcuffed next to the set of two pumps just south of the road.
2127 Grand AvenueEdit
A body shop at 21316 Sherman Way, in Canoga Park, was used to film the scenes at 2127 Grand Avenue.
Shedding the trackerEdit
After the trade has happened, Harris drives Alexis away and pulls into 11916 Sheldon Street.
The episode opens with a shot of the factory on Sheldon Street, and also Jack's car driving past the entrance to the factory (similar to the opening shot of 2:00am-3:00am).
The scenes at the dock were filmed at Al Larson's Boat Shop, located at 1046 South Seaside Avenue in San Pedro. Al Larson's name can be seen several times throughout the scenes.
Palmer hotel exteriorEdit
The exterior shots of the reporter outside the hotel, as well as the lobby that Jack exits through, were filmed at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel at 21850 Oxnard Street. The scenes upstairs in the hotel were shot on stage.
As Jack drives towards the docks at the end of the episode, there is another aerial shot of him going down the 134 freeway recycled from earlier episodes.
Driving to docksEdit
The opening shot of the episode shows Jack's car driving east on Anaheim Street in Wilmington, on a section just west of the Terminal Island Freeway bridge.
The scenes at the dock were filmed at Al Larson's Boat Shop, located at 1046 South Seaside Avenue. Al Larson's name can be seen several times throughout the scenes.
Palmer hotel exteriorEdit
The establishing shot of the hotel, as well as Palmer's press conference and the news reports, were again filmed at the exterior of the Warner Center Marriott at 21850 Oxnard Street. The scene of Palmer divorcing Sherry was filmed in the ballroom of the Marriott. All the upstairs scenes in the hotel suite were shot on stage.
Driving to CTUEdit
As Jack sets off, there is a shot of his car driving on Anaheim Street again over one of the bridges. After he speaks to Paul Wilson, there is an interior shot of his car driving west on Anaheim past the intersection with Henry Ford Avenue. Later it shows a similar shot of him driving west, a little further along the road.
CTU parking garageEdit
The showdown between Jack and Nina in the CTU parking garage was shot at the Warner Center Marriott parking garage in Woodland Hills.
Studio sets Edit
The main 24 production office was a large building at 6250 Canoga Avenue in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Within the studio set location of this building, Joseph Hodges constructed many different set locations for many of the season's indoor scenes. Throughout the course of the season, certain sets were converted or redesigned into other locations. In 2005, the building was demolished and converted into the Triana Apartment Complex, and the show's production office moved to Chatsworth for Seasons 4 to 8.
CTU Los Angeles set Edit
- Episodes: All
After the pilot was picked up, the CTU Los Angeles set was built in the main production studio. As the CTU scenes in the pilot were shot at the Fox Interactive Media office on Bundy Drive, the interior of that building was painstakingly recreated on the soundstage. Virtually all of the interior scenes from episode 2 onwards were shot here, as well as a small scene in episode 1 when Victor Rovner speaks to Data Services.
Walsh party set Edit
- Episode: "12:00am-1:00am"
The party that Richard Walsh is attending when he is informed of the hit on Palmer was built and shot on the main stage on Erwin street.
Palmer hotel set Edit
From episode 2 onwards, the Palmer hotel suite was duplicated on the soundstage. After the pilot scenes were filmed at Andaz West Hollywood, the new set included several rooms and corridors with a layout and appearance noticeably different from episode 1. The hotel suite included a large main area split into a corridor, a living room area and a dining table, with a balcony running along the outside; and doors leading to a kitchen, a side room, and two "swing set" rooms that were either Keith's bedroom, an area with sofas, or David and Sherry's room. The corridors and lifts outside the suite were adjoined as well, and scenes on the 12th floor (the sting operation in Alexis Drazen's hotel room, and Mike Novick's room) and the 9th floor (Maureen Kingsley's room, and a room where David secretly met Patty Brooks) were also shot in this same set.
St. Mark's hospital setEdit
The interior of St. Mark's Hospital was built at the main 24 soundstage. It was the first set built with an octagonal room design. It consisted of a reception area, a corridor leading to an octagonal seating area, with an octagonal operating room and another corridor leading off from here. The corridor had lifts to the "second floor", which was the same set with the seats removed from the seating area. There was a room off the reception area that had a coffee machine in episode 5, and changed into Janet's room where she was killed. The reception re-used a glass panel window from the alleyway backlot set of episode 3, and the reception and corridor was redesigned as Cofell Enterprises later.
Van Nuys precinct setEdit
- Episode: "4:00am-5:00am"
The interior of the Van Nuys Precinct was all built on stage in Woodland Hills. There was a main corridor with steps at one end and an area with chairs at the other end, and several rooms led off the corridor: Sergeant Newman's office, a room Jack was held in, the interrogation room, a room with a payphone, and a holding room.
Gaines control room setEdit
Ira Gaines's main computer room, and the adjoining room with mirror, was built on the main 24 soundstage on Erwin Street. It formed a "basement" area to the hacienda building at Sable Ranch, where the interior of that building was filmed.
Compound guest house setEdit
The interior scenes at the storeroom where Kim is held hostage were filmed on a built part of the stage. A small area of courtyard was built outside the door, to match the building at Pierce College. However the items on the shelves change from shots done on Pierce College (outside the room looking in) or on stage (inside the room). The adjoining barn room, where Teri and Kim spend most of their captivity, was also part of this build on the stage. There was a small side room inside the barn, and large doors leading to the "outside".
Medical station 3 setEdit

The interior of Medical Station 3 at the San Clarita Power Plant was built on stage.
Andre's plane setEdit

Latham Group building setEdit
Cofell Enterprises setEdit
- Episode: "9:00am-10:00am"
All of the scenes on the 14th floor of 21500 Riverside Drive, the offices of Cofell Enterprises, were shot on stage. The small office area and balcony where Nancy and Ted Cofell start is the balcony of the Palmer hotel set, but once they exit that area it switches to the main corridor build of the offices that was based on the St. Mark's hospital set (the octagonal reception area is the same shape). The lifts have been redressed to resemble the lifts at LA Center Studios where the ground floor and stairwell scenes were shot. There is also a logo for the Giant company in this corridor, which reappears in Rick Allen's bedroom later in the season.
There was an office set built on the soundstage, which was used as interior of George Ferragamo's office in episode 12 with a day backing out of the window. It was then re-used in episode 21, as Ryan Chappelle's office at Division, this time with a night backing.
- Episode: "12:00pm-1:00pm"
The hangar that Alexis Drazen drives out of at the end of the episode was the back door of the Woodland Hills soundstage, with a plane tail built to dress the location.
Grace Memorial hospital setEdit
The scenes at Grace Memorial Hospital were shot mainly on the soundstage at Woodland Hills, using the set that had previously been St. Mark's hospital and the Cofell offices. It consisted of a main corridor with rooms off it, including room 7 where Teri and Kim were examined and room 3 where Nina saw Jovan Myovic. There was also a re-use of the green tiled walls from St. Mark's Hospital operating room for the cupboard that Jovan hides in. The shot of Jovan through the window, looking down at the Bauers leaving, was also done on stage, but the shots of what he was looking at were filmed at Bundy Drive. In episode 20, when Phil Parslow is taken to the hospital, there are shots in the same set.
New Orleans bar setEdit
The bar where Robert Ellis is, as well the adjoining bathroom where he is killed, was built on the Woodland Hills soundstage.
Rick's garage setEdit
- Episode: "2:00pm-3:00pm"
- Episode: "5:00pm-6:00pm"
After filming scenes at the Tuptas restaurant in the Inn of the Seventh Ray in the previous episode, in episode 18 it was all shot on set in Woodland Hills. Chairs and tables were borrowed from the Inn of the Seventh Ray and the restaurant was re-created, although a fireplace was built against one wall rather than the fireplace in the center of the room that the restaurant actually had. The wine cellar where Phil Parslow examines Teri Bauer was also part of the set.
Kim's jail setEdit
The jail where Kim Bauer and Rick Allen were taken was a set built at the Woodland Hills soundstage. It was a revamp of the set that had previously been two different hospitals and Cofell Enterprises earlier in the season. The set included a waiting and booking area, an interrogation room with mirror, and a set of cells with an octagonal shape.
21911 Kipling setEdit
The interior of the Saugus detention center facility was built on the Woodland Hills stage, including Jack and Victor's cells, the CCTV room, the corridors and the entrance area with armory.
Alexis's hospital setEdit
- Episode: "9:00pm-10:00pm"
The hospital bed where Alexis Drazen speaks on the phone was set up at the Woodland Hills soundstage.
Nikola's Delights setEdit
- Episode: "9:00pm-10:00pm"
The interior of Nikola's Delights was built on the Woodland Hills soundstage, re-using the walls from the Gaines control room set. It included a staircase down to a large room with a dining table, a bar and a smaller table with computer equipment on it.
