Shabana Azmi

Shabana Azmi (born September 18, 1950; age 73) is a veteran Indian actress and playback singer who played Abhilasha Grewal in the first and second season of the Indian version of 24.

Biography and career

Shabana Azmi was born in New Delhi, India to poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi and actress Shaukat Azmi.

Azmi has often worked with filmmakers such as Deepa Mehta and appeared in films such as City of Joy (1992), Fire (1996), Earth (1998), Daughters of this Century (2001), Waterborne (2005, with Jon Gries), 15 Park Avenue (2005), The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012, with Kiefer Sutherland) and Midnight's Children.

Azmi is married to acclaimed writer Javed Akhtar.
