Shareef was the ambassador from Afghanistan to the US during Day 2.
After Second Wave's impending nuclear strike on Los Angeles was discovered, Shareef and his intelligence official Farhad Salim met with President David Palmer and Lynne Kresge. Because there was a Second Wave presence within Shareef's own country, he requested an mutually beneficial intelligence sharing with the United States. NSA director Roger Stanton was highly opposed to this. When Shareef and Salim left, their helicopter crashed in an apparent accident, but Stanton eventually became the primary suspect in the incident. ("Day 2: 12:00pm-1:00pm")
