Sheila Vand (born April 27, 1985; age 39) is an American actress and performance artist of Persian descent who played Nilaa Mizrani, the bright and driven campaign manager of Senator John Donovan in 24: Legacy. Her casting was announced on March 30, 2016.
Biography and career[]
Vand was born at April 27, 1985 in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. She grew up in Palo Alto, California. She is a second-generation Iranian-American. She went to the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television to study acting & directing and graduated there.
Vand appeared in some short videos. Her first television role is Life (with Sarah Clarke, Manny Perry, Michael Hilow and Norman Mora). She was a regular in the wed series Prom Queen. She appeared in guest starrring roles in NYC 22 and Cult. Vand was a series regular in the short lived NBC drama-thriller State of Affairs (with Anil Kumar, Reed Diamond, Tzi Ma, Michael Irby, Ray Siegle, Oliver Keller and Edward Fernandez). Two episodes of State of Affairs were directed by Nelson McCormick.
Vand is best known for her role in Argo (2012), which she also narrated, appearing with Omid Abtahi, Rory Cochrane, Željko Ivanek and Keith Szarabajka. Her other film roles include Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (with Cherry Jones). and the upcoming Aardvark (with Zachary Quinto).
