Spanish was a spoken and written language originating from the country of Spain. It was also widespread in many Latin and South American countries, including Mexico and Colombia.

Many Latino immigrants in Los Angeles spoke Spanish as their primary language. Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department were trained in Spanish in order to communicate with residents who might not have as firm a grasp on English.

Jack Bauer spoke Spanish as well. During a standoff with Greg Penticoff, he used it to warn Jessie Hampton, whom Penticoff was holding hostage, to drop to the ground when he released his gun. ("Day 1: 3:00am-4:00am")

When Jamey Farrell attempted to explain to Tony Almeida why she felt forced into spying on CTU for Ira Gaines, Tony rebuked her in Spanish: "Oye, eres una vergüenza." ("Day 1: 8:00am-9:00am")

This translates to "You're a disgrace."

In the aftermath of the California primary, Almeida questioned Jamey's mother Erica Vasquez in Spanish, believing it would be easier to reach out to her as a fellow Hispanic. A translated transcript of Vasquez's debriefing was provided to the House Special Subcommittee. (Findings at CTU)

Gael Ortega and Hector Salazar conversed in Spanish when Ortega called Salazar to report that David Goss's dead body had been delivered to National Health Services. The Salazars often issued orders to their men in Spanish. ("Day 3: 1:00pm-2:00pm", "Day 3: 11:00pm-12:00am")
