I can accept that CTU's designed bullet-resistant jacket technology, lighter than typical body armor, more effective than a typical flak jacket- to cut the Gordian knot :) Eschiss1 (talk) 22:18, June 23, 2013 (UTC) (or, that such a thing already exists- I expect probably so; I know I have no idea...)

Underclothing body armour that can stop pistol rounds is already easily purchasable. There's different levels of protection out there. Silent Hunter UK (talk) 18:49, July 22, 2015 (UTC)

probably not a "flak jacket" exactly strictly speaking ?[]

"It is not designed to protect against bullets fired from small-arms such as rifles or handguns." (from the Wikipedia article on Flak jacket. Yes, the next line notes

"However, certain flak jackets are able to sustain certain gunshots, dependent on the armor, the gun, and the distance that the bullet has travelled.
The term "flak jacket" is often colloquially applied to newer body armor featuring protection against small arms projectiles, but the original usage predated the existence of functional bulletproof vests and the two are not interchangeable in performance."
