Rename[edit source]

This is a very annoying situation - we only have one instance of the character's name being spoken, but the subtitles - as well as Margot's profile - spell it as "Mahmoud." Apart from the fact that the current spelling is open to debate, "Mahmoud" is the most "recent" name we have, as it was seen again in "2:00pm-3:00pm" and "3:00pm-4:00pm". I don't want to say for sure that it was a flubbed line delivery, but there doesn't seem to have been any effort to correct the name in the following episodes - I think it might make sense to rename the article. --Pyramidhead (talk) 21:46, May 28, 2014 (UTC)

Anyone opposed to this move? --Pyramidhead (talk) 20:43, June 6, 2014 (UTC)
For now I am - given the current situation, I'd be inclined to go with "Muhammad" as that was the name spoken by Jack Bauer as opposed to being seen on one of the on-screen profiles - however, I don't want to get into a full debate when there are a few episodes left and the name may pop up again. I think it would be sensible to review this once the all of Live Another Day has finished--Acer4666 (talk) 13:05, June 8, 2014 (UTC)
Sounds good. I just don't like that it's a name that has so many different possible spellings with no way to verify which is correct. Mohammed? Muhammed? --Pyramidhead (talk) 20:04, June 9, 2014 (UTC)
And because there are so many spellings, the current title is original research. Until the spelling for "Muhammad" is confirmed in official sources, the wiki should use Mahmoud throughout, noting that "Muhammad" (in quotation marks) was used in dialogue. The shorter name is canon, after all, while "Muhammad" could be rationalized as a character's mistake. PreviouslyOn24 (talk) 10:34, June 11, 2014 (UTC)
In the preview clip here (log in w/whatever and you can watch it right away) Ian says "Mahmoud." --Pyramidhead (talk) 07:36, June 17, 2014 (UTC)
