History merge (and character name) Edit

Back in April 2007 when I first joined the wiki, I copied the content from the article "Spector" and pasted it onto a new article "Spectre" because I saw the second spelling in the Season 4 deleted scenes menu. Copy-and-paste moves divorce the content from their original contributors, so today I followed the steps over on Wikipedia's guide to correct this old error of mine. (I should have just used the page move feature, but was a newb at the time.) Additionally, I moved the content back to "Spector". The deleted scenes menus are infamous for errors and poor writing, and a British spelling for this character makes it all the more likely that "Spectre" was a mistake. Also, my closed captioning has it as "Spector" too. So, the result of all this is that Spectre is now a redirect with no History beyond the move, and Spector has all the real content edits that people made for the character, as it should be. And if evidence comes up for moving him to yet another spelling, it can be done normally like any other page now. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

... Which has now happened. I'm moving it to Specter. Since, according to policy, cc's are not an iu source, we're not bound to the spelling of the name with the "o". Given that "Spector" isn't even an alternate spelling for "Specter" in any dictionary, the character is meant to be identified with the American English spelling of "Specter". The only way to change this again is to find an IU source (from within the show) that actually spells it differently. I should have realized this back in November 2008. What made "specter" the name above "spector"? As far as I'm aware there's no iu evidence for either spelling. Or is there?--Acer4666 (talk) 23:44, June 23, 2012 (UTC)
