Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was President of the United States until 1909.
In the early 1900s, Roosevelt dispatched the Great White Fleet to sail the world in what was later known as the "Goodwill Tour." During Day 9, President James Heller - mistakenly stating that Franklin Roosevelt had been responsible - likened the tour to the modern Chinese "Friendship Tour," and said that both events were simply shows of force for the international community. ("Day 9: 11:00am-12:00pm")
In 1912, Roosevelt was in the process of campaigning for reelection as President when he was shot during a campaign stop in Milwaukee. The bullet glanced off the manuscript of a speech in his breast pocket before lodging in his chest; however, the wound was not deep and he survived. His run for the presidency was unsuccessful. Roosevelt was the only former president to face an assassination attempt until David Palmer was shot and killed during Day 5, decades later. (24: The Ultimate Guide)
Roosevelt's portrait hung in the White House foyer. ("Day 7: 6:00pm-7:00pm")
