Wesemann is a former Lutheran pastor, having served for eleven years, before founding Foolish Words in 2000, a full time writing and speaking ministry. He has authored over 40 books as well as magazine articles, song lyrics and dramas. Other titles he has written include Season under the Son: Stories of Grace and Being a Good Dad When You Didn't Have One.
