Tommy Flanagan (born July 3, 1965; age 56) played Gabriel Schector during Season 7 of 24. One of his most distinct characteristics is his scarred face, a result of being attacked by thugs in his native Scotland.

Biography and career[]

Tommy Flanagan was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He is the third of five children. When he was young, he worked as a DJ at local dance clubs. It was outside of one of those clubs that he was attacked with a knife, resulting in his distinctive facial scars.

In his early twenties, Flanagan became a member of Robert Carlyle's Raindog Theatre Company where he made his stage debut in such productions as Wasted I and II, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and MacBeth. He and Carlyle became close friends. They also worked together in the 1999 film Plunkett & Macleane.

Flanagan also starred in The Saint with Rade Šerbedžija, Face/Off with Colm Feore, Sunset Strip with Rory Cochrane, Attila with Powers Boothe, Gladiator with Tomas Arana, and Sin City with Jude Ciccolella, Michael Madsen and Boothe.

Since 2008, Flanagan is best known for his role as Scottish biker Filip "Chibs" Telford on the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy. Peter Weller directed several episodes of the show before joining the cast in the show's sixth season. Other actors with whom Flanagan worked on the series include Conroe Brooks, Ryan Cutrona, Pablo Espinosa, Eddie Fernandez, Brad Grunberg, C. Thomas Howell, Benito Martinez, Vicellous Shannon, Keith Szarabajka, and Walter Wong, among many others.
