Toshiaki Karasawa (born June 3, 1963; age 62) is a Japanese actor who played the lead role of Genba Shido in the Japanese version of 24.

Biography[]

Toshiaki Karasawa was born in Tokyo, Japan. He made his theatrical debut in 1987 in the play Boy's Revue Stay Gold. He specializes in theatrical action sequences involving swordplay and fighting. In 1990, Karasawa started appearing in TV shows. He has worked on shows like Top stewardess monogatari, Sôri to yobanai de, and Imôto yo during that time.

Through his career, Karasawa has appeared in numerous TV series, mini-series, and feature films. He has been nominated for two Japanese Academy Awards, and was named Best Newcomer in 1992. Karasawa is also notable for dubbing for Tom Hanks in the roles of Woody in the Toy Story franchise, as well as in The Polar Express.

Karasawa married actress Tomoko Yamaguchi on December 15, 1995.
