Should the images on the pages from Charters (Day 7) and Turner not being in the infobox?--Station7 09:57, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

In this case, it isn't appropriate because Larry Moss completely dominates the image. If the guys were more visible, it would make sense like with Adam (Forbes bodyguard) and Jason (Day 4), but here it is very different because it would be misleading. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 10:34, February 2, 2011 (UTC)
Very easy to understand of course :) --Station7 21:57, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I thought I'd make a topic to post minor questions under. First one - when I move misspelled articles do I have to make a note in the articles for deletion page, or will you pick up the redirects if I just leave an afd tag on them? Is the afd page just for potentially controversial deletions?--Acer4666 18:16, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

If you'd like the old misspelling to be deleted, you can choose to surpass the AFD article page, and type something like "delete old RD" somewhere in the move summary as a signal for me to toss it. The AFD discussions are intended for content pages, like you mentioned, so redirects are generally non-controversial. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 04:19, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, you know that category change we did a while back, splitting mentioned characters into ones for the different days - I presume that came out of a desire to see just the mentioned characters for a specific day in a big list? Cos sometimes I fancy seeing like just day 1 locations or that sort of thing, but then again it's also good to be able to see all 24 locations in a big list - so I think splitting down the locations category into days is a bad idea. Maybe it's the fault of wikia rather than our organisation system, maybe there should be a way to view everything with 'locations' AND 'day 1' categories together, without messing on with categories. Can u do this? The other alternative is having 'day 1', 'locations', 'day 1 locations', etc on every article which would be a big mess of the category section! Hm I'm not really sure why I'm posting this, it's not really a question or anything, just thoughts from my head. Also I think maybe I don't like the location category having 'africa' next to '12199 Kipling Avenue' next to 'University of Belgrade' if you know what I mean? Anyways, don't know if you have any thoughts on this, thought I'd share my ponderings!--Acer4666 00:05, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Hm... continents and street addresses all in one place does actually seem... inadequately planned. Now you have me thinking. I've always hated that "Locations" included places that were only mentioned, but, there really is no way around it. Also, it's a really bad idea to try to make "Mentioned locations" or "Day 1 mentioned locations" etc. The only alternative to the current system that comes to mind is this: we use "Locations" strictly as a parent category for other categories. Then, we restrict our place articles to only one of the following (some of which already exist): "Continents", "Countries", "Cities", "Neighborhoods", "Street addresses", "Schools", and "Building names". In the end, those 5 categs would be placed inside Locations, which would have no articles itself (exactly like "Mentioned characters" was updated to only have sub-categories). Does this make sense/sound good to you? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 13:54, February 14, 2011 (UTC)
Ah man, what the hell? I left a big message in reply to this and now it's gone! What I said was that your idea sounded good, if we have a think about the categories - for one thing, if we have a 'schools' subcategory, then why not prisons & hospitals etc., and that gets into organisation/location confusion that I still don't have clear in my own head yet!
The other thing was whether it was frowned upon to have, like we do for weapons and category:weapons, an article called locations where we can organise them how we choose, with a note at the top saying 'this is a list by season, for the automatic alphabetical list go here' sort of thing?
Also I thought that mentioned locations weren't so bad some of the time, and they got interesting if they were mentioned more than once cos it's good to see how the mentions of real life places link together. Dunno if you're seen some of the articles for roads I've made, but I've only made them for roads that pop up more than once. But I guess we've started to cover mentioned location notability over at Macys' plaza talk page.
Hopefully this message will stay this time!!--Acer4666 00:03, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't support an article like that for the locations, because categories in these cases would really do the work automatically for us.
Also, if you prefer not to save your posts to a text file before clicking Publish, you could alternatively just Copy them to your clipboard before Publishing. This way, if the save fails, you at least have it on your clipboard to simply reload and paste. This method doesn't protect you against browser/computer crashes, however, whereas saving to a word processor actually does. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 09:17, February 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I was just checking whether I was moving pages right - it's just if you search for something like 'Palmer Campaign Hotel' in the search box, the autofill only recognises 'Palmer's Hotel', the old title which is only a redirect. Is this a glitch in wikia or have I moved it wrongly?--Acer4666 00:01, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

You didn't do anything wrong. It's most likely just the wiki being slow to update the Autofill feature, or something. Not precisely on this topic, but related, is the fact that this amazing article isn't linked much. I'll help when I see opportunities, but let's get the links out there! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:53, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
Ah brilliant. Yeah I was about to sit down last night and link it all but I thought I'd check the redirects were all ok before doing it - didn't want to go round changing a load of links from 'campaign hotel' to 'palmer's hotel' or anything!--Acer4666 10:53, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hey man, just to let you know I'm away all of next week if you think I've disappeared. Let me know if any major stuff happens! Also, you never told me about this page when I was categorising those images - it looks like I've got my work cut out for when I return haha! Hope you have a good week on the wiki --Acer4666 23:51, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Oh and have a good week generally for that matter haha - realised it sounded like I didn't wna include that --Acer4666 23:53, February 26, 2011 (UTC)
I didn't think of mentioning those to you, but yes, those do eventually need exactly your kind of expertise at some point... and there are several more handfuls that need to be verified too, but we just don't know which ones yet, because they are categorized with Character Images categs etc. and therefore don't appear inside the Uncategorized Files special. As we find more of those, we should categorize them or at least label them with that pna for image verification.
Hope you enjoy the vacation Acer! I'll try to get the highlights for you when you come back, about what goes on over here. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 06:22, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
Another quick q: do all these want episode image categories too?--Acer4666 22:46, March 8, 2011 (UTC)
OH hell no, don't give that another thought it would serve no purpose. Those are just for the 1x-per-annum cameo on the Main Page. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 03:44, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Day 1 is full of awesome dialogue man ;) --Acer4666 07:33, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Referring to the Quotes templates? Generally those are good choices, I'm just happy they are categorized now. Thank for taking the time finishing that with me. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 19:13, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
No probs, it was good reading through them all! I just need to go through jan, feb, april and december to satisfy myself that there are no more duplicates - atm I'm on a super slow computer so will do it later. It's satisfying clearing out those special pages!--Acer4666 19:33, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Haha I don't think I'm ever gonna work out when are the times you're most active on this wiki. Is it not 4 in the morning over where you are? You're a regular Jack Bauer!--Acer4666 09:17, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

As I type it's 5:40am here, heh. Yes it's definitely true I don't have a schedule, so it generally boils down to whatever leftover time I get between work, the girlfriend, the occasional shindig, and family. For example this weekend I was in Philly with a good friend from college... but even that couldn't keep me away from here as you saw. If there's a computer and a handful of minutes I'll check in! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 09:47, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Welcome Edit

Hi, thank you for the quasi-welcome. Do you or anyone else mind if I fix up some typos using AutoWikiBrowser? --Cook Me Plox

I'm sure you're accustomed to the "standard boilerplate" welcomes :) But it is sincere nevertheless. And, of course, your spell checking work is invaluable. Many mistakes persist on our articles, so thanks very much for fixing those! But if you plan on going on another typo killing spree, would you consider registering another account so it can be flagged as a Bot, and then doing the corrections with that account? It isn't necessary, technically, but it would help our Recent Changes patrollers who choose to not show Bot edits. It might just take a few hours or a day to get the flag approved. Either way, I appreciate the work, and I hope you come back to do more. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 09:17, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Certainly, please flag CookBot. Thanks. --Cook Me Plox 09:20, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Also, regarding Wayne Palmer, is the newspaper story not considered canon, or is there some confusion about if "the death of his predecessor" refers to Wayne or someone else (Keeler?) --Cook Me Plox 09:25, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
I just sent the request to Wikia for the flag (bureaucrats here don't have that ability [yet?], for some reason).
The Wayne Palmer demise article you mention is still actually an open discussion. It's one of the most interesting things we haven't had a full discussion about. The "predecessor" does refer to Wayne. But the open debate is whether we are going to include it as canon because those words themselves weren't visible on-screen. I believe we should include it, because it was specifically created for the show, and the paper is visible on the screen even though you can't read everything. What are your thoughts. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 09:35, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I said something on the talk page. --Cook Me Plox 10:44, February 17, 2011 (UTC)

David KildeEdit

I have send David Kilde an e-mail and asked if he played either Adam or Jason. Well, I hope he reacts ;) --Station7 21:19, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

You don't need to send emails to the performers unless it's a matter of contention among the community. Did you send because you don't think it is Kilde portraying that character? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:20, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
No, because I want to know who he played and maybe we can figure out because of that who the other actor was.--Station7 23:22, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Haha that is actually a great idea, I would never have thought of it. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:32, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Well, it looks like Brett DeLuca, who plays either Charters (Day 7) or Turner has another role in season 7, watch this video: 21:39, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

That first one seems to be his appearance in 6a-7am. That probably was not "another" role in that episode: it's likely that it was his only role in that episode. I'm wrong if he reappears as an FBI agent within that hour but my notes say he was FBI in 6pm-7pm and 9-10pm only. If you can check the 6am episode before I do, we can be sure. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:36, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Looks like I was right ;) --Station7 15:47, March 23, 2011 (UTC)
The good part is: neither of us was wrong! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 04:35, March 24, 2011 (UTC)

Do you want to look at User:Station7/Fun page? It's a fun page, well I hope think it's funny ;) --Station7 20:16, March 8, 2011 (UTC)

:) Blue Rook  talk  contribs 16:17, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure I didn't made that changes at Day 7: 7:00am-8:00am. i'm 100% sure of that. how could it be that the computer says that? Or did you change it? Otherwise I don't understand it.--Station7 15:43, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Not sure if I understand what you are saying. What I do know for sure is that I reverted that change you made, but also made other changes, during the same edit. Maybe that is the source of the confusion. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 16:17, March 9, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, that's all I did want to know :) --Station7 16:24, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

News Report Edit

Haha I'm fairly sure that is what the news reporter says! You gotta listen closely, but it's clear she's just waffling on. It sounds like she says something like 'Next week, I'm going to prison to visit a pervert who has 5 sons' and the sound mixer has faded it in and out at choice words for a laugh! I'm defs gonna pay more attention to news reports in 24 in the future!--Acer4666 22:59, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Why did you remove what I found on IMDB? Do you not trust IMDB? --Station7 10:17, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

IMDB is the source for their presence on the Wanted characters page. But IMDB has nothing to do with the reason why those two actors are there. If you look at Dyniewicz it says "uncredited appearance??" and on LeClair it says "appearance must be cited". This means they have to be specifically discovered in their respective episode, confirmed with time-stamps or DVD play times—before anyone can go ahead and create an article with their name and before they can be added to the "Uncredited" heading. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:31, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Joseph Hodges Edit

Yes this is the real Joseph Hodges. I was trying to remove the picture of me with the beard, just my ego, wasn't having a good year that season. No problem if you need to keep it. Thanks Joseph

Not a problem at all! I'm glad you've found this project, and you can see the image you uploaded has been made the main image of the article about your 24 work. There was some difficulty initially because it wasn't clear if that was a free-license image or not, but since you're the owner of the image I figured you were happy with it being in the public domain. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:16, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

How can you hide template likes Template:Appearances1 and Template:Appearances2 etc? I would like to know that. --Station7 13:59, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

They aren't hidden, just unused. They were completely replaced with the new template. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:16, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
Which template?--Station7 19:24, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
Hey station7, they were replaced by template:Appearances. I showed you how to auto-hide that last night, here. Is that what you are trying to do, make it so it is hidden automatically when the page loads?--Acer4666 20:43, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Quick Favour Edit

Bob McGovern

Hey, you said that you were good with faces and matching people up - I was wondering if you cast your eye over this before I went ahead with it haha! I got a pretty good shot of Alan Morgan's stunt double here. Now according to imdb, there were a few stunt performers for that episode, and unless it's Jeff Cadiente I would place this guy as Bob McGovern [1]. Dunno what you think? Also do you know who has added all these stunt performers to different 24 episodes on imdb - if it is in the slightest bit accurate, what a gold mine!--Acer4666 23:12, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

In my opinion it's 70% chance that man is McGovern, using only the pic you've uploaded. If it helps, I'm pretty sure it's definitely not Cadiente at all. Apologies if it wasn't the certitude you're looking for, but I may have to check the episode tomorrow for more frames of this fellow's face to get a better judgment. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 23:33, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
Ah no worries, was just seeing what ur thoughts were. The pic here [2] looks more like the shot of Alan's double (lines around the mouth etc) - but the fact McGovern has a twin brother makes it infuriating! Which is which?--Acer4666 23:39, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Unnamed goons of Kalil Hasan Edit

Hey, I just wanted your view on a judgement call - you know the two goons that beat up Andrew Paige in the 3rd episode of season 4? Watching the scene, I notice that as Kalil leaves one of them says "talk!" while the other speaks arabic to Kalil. I guess that technically that qualifies them for entries in the unnamed terrorists page - but I'm always reluctant to include qualifiers for the sake of it, as we don't want the article to be massive. But I guess those two were quite notable and key to the scene, and I managed to identify one of the actors so maybe entries wouldn't be so bad - then again, I don't know if their "spoken lines of dialogue" (1 word for one, different language for the other) warrants them for inclusion definitively.--Acer4666 16:56, April 1, 2011 (UTC)

Ah, it's tough. According to the Inclusion policy we finally codified, the lines need to be in English and arguably significant/prominent. If what you're reporting is accurate, only the guy (Thom Williams I think) who says "Talk!" is eligible, and after watching the scene I'd consider this to be a real "threshold" character because it's easy to miss. On one hand as an argument for making an entry for Thom Williams's terrorist: the crewcut separatist had 1 word too ("Bierko!")... but the camera was right on him and the line had major significance. On the other hand as an argument against an entry: the agent played by Michael Placencia says something like "Yes, sir" to Jack when he walks away, but I personally held back from making the unnamed CTU entry—even though I was so happy to have found the actor—because to say the line is utterly insignificant is a gross understatement.
If we make one for this Thom Williams terrorist, then the Michael Placencia CTU agent gets an entry too... but so can everyone else, which is a worrisome prospect. Perhaps to keep this on a tight leash, we consider lowering the "significance of the spoken line" threshold for creating unnamed character entries if the actor can be positively identified. What do you think? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 17:18, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't mind just keeping these guys forbidden. The information on who plays them is always eligible for the actor pages and (as is probably usually the case for them) performers with multiple roles. I think having whether or not the actor can be identified might lead to some grey areas and stuff, although it is a good criteria, something about it doesn't quite work for me. I would be fine either way, and I hadn't properly read the inclusion policy (silly me) so it's cleared up for me!--Acer4666 17:31, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
They'll be left out then. It's the safer option too. If we drop the inclusion criteria too low, problems are likely... nobody wants those pages getting flooded with stuff like "Half-visible guy near taxi cab overheard on sidewalk talking unintelligibly into cellphone". :) Blue Rook  talk  contribs 17:36, April 1, 2011 (UTC)

FYI Edit

This could be interesting for you. :) Tom 13:15, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

Possibly new unnamed terrorist Edit

I noticed the convo you had earlier with Acer about the 2 thugs in S4, I think I may have found a similar case, though I wanted to hear what you had to say about it.

I didn't want to upload a pic yet, but in 3x11, around 11:35, one of Amador's men is transferring funds through a PC and Amador asks him if everything's set, and the guy gives off a gruff "Yeah". Is this enough, because like Gaines' thug and the crewcut terrorist, the camera focuses on him for a good amount of time. Do you think he's elligible? --ASHPD24 17:31, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

I'll check it out very soon (I'd do it now but I'm itemizing my f*** taxes before Friday and it's a process). If it's a go, do you want you or me to upload image? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:01, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
Sure, you always take better photos and he's real easy to get since he gets enough screen time. --ASHPD24 00:05, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry it took so long, you eventually beat me to it. I linked the guy in a few spots earlier (and one more just now), and when I get a chance, I'll take an alternative image (maybe brighter or cropping) if I'm able to like you mentioned. Nice catch with this guy. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:47, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

Charters and Turner Edit

Hey, I just noticed the "Charters and Turner" situation that there is - I couldn't seem to find any discussion on it, and just wondered what the rationale was for having an unnamed entry for one of them, in addition to the two named articles? In other cases like this, if one of the character performs a certain action, it goes on both the pages, I know in this case one of them did much more than the other, but I don't see why the same rule can't apply (the only problem to me would be the "lastappeared" field on the sidebar, and I don't see why there couldn't be a this episodeor this episode).
Also, about the inclusion of people on the unnamed pages - I guess the inlcusion criteria is something of a retrospective thing, as ASHPD24 points out my "Gaines's thug" guy had a very insignificant off-screen line, but I included of him because he recurred so much. But it seems other entries might not fit the retroactive criteria?
Good luck with the tax returns!--Acer4666 10:53, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
In case you can't check, that hotel agent I linked just said "yes sir", and the camera then followed him as a way to link between Jack and Palmer in one shot - that's about his entire role--Acer4666 10:55, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

The intention with that inclusion criteria was not to go back and start eliminating characters we've already established, so if they're around now, there's no cause to remove them. Also that hotel agent, although he does sound very minor, was one of Proudhug's additions so I'm pretty sure he was noticeable enough to warrant being added.

Regarding Charters and Turner, what was the other example(s) that were different? If I'm understanding this correctly, it is set up this way because we had a credited actor situation but a pair of unclear names as well — so we can't rightfully link DeLuca to one of the names arbitrarily, nor can we ignore one other names. The character played by DeLuca definitely did those actions on the unnamed page, whereas it would be misleading to attribute those actions to both named characters at the same time. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 13:34, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I won't remove any names from the list, but just cos Proudhug added him doesn't make him more notable than if it was added by an anonymous contributor.
I don't think the Charters and Turner situation is different to the Adam (Forbes bodyguard) and Jason (Day 4) situation - we're listing actions that David Kilde definitely did (shooting Marianne) to both their pages. Whether or not he was credited, I don't think alters the situation - on the credits list for the episode, we just say "Brett Deluca as Charters or Turner (as FBI agent)" as we have done for similar situations. I think it's strange to have 3 entries on the wiki for 2 characters, and also to list someone as "unnamed" when they definitely have one of two names.--Acer4666 13:48, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
Proudhug was the guy who started all the unnamed character pages. :)
Now looking at the Charters/Turner business your way is making a bit more sense. But what will we do about linking the DeLuca character in the episode guides? And by that I mean specifically those instances when the FBI agent played by DeLuca is definitely being described, and not the ambiguous scene where both men are named by Larry. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 01:57, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
But there is a difference between these two and Adam/Jason. Those two clowns always appeared in the same episode, but DeLuca/Unknown seem to only appear together in 1 episode. Linking them in guides and stuff will be really difficult. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 03:19, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I did realise that after I made the above post - the solution would be to link them by saying "an FBI agent (either Charters or Turner) then walked down the corridor...". I suppose it's a toss up between the clumsiness of that, or the clumsiness of spreading the info across 3 pages? I personally would go for putting the info on the two pages, dunno what anyone else thinks. If you look at Marianne Taylor's page, she is listed as being shot by Adam or Jason, which is kind of a similar thing - and in her Day 4 section she is "killed by one of Forbes thugs", with no link, but ideally we would have (Adam or Jason) in brackets after that.--Acer4666 09:28, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
The issue was less prominent with Adam/Jason but at this point I agree they should get similar treatment. I can start the process soon, the hard part is trying to remember all the places where the unnamed guy is linked and replacing it with something like "an FBI agent (Charters or Turner)...". Blue Rook  talk  contribs 15:32, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
I think I've got all the links, and I've updated the Charters (Day 7) and Turner pages to contain the info from the unnamed non-CTU government agents page, all that's left is to remove the entry from the unnamed page, if you're happy with everything?--Acer4666 23:29, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Argh the appearances templates. I knew there were things that had kept me from changing this earlier, unlike Adam/Jason. How should we do those? The only real options that appear to me are: leave the templates empty of the unknown episodes, or use notes; I prefer the latter. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 03:27, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

I've done notes on them - whaddaya think? Feel free to re-jiggle the wording or what have you--Acer4666 09:40, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
Awww--I've just realised what else this change entails: re-numbering the rest of the FBI agents on the unnamed page, and updating all of their links. urggghghghgh--Acer4666 10:28, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
Actually that part should be pretty easy, you'll see what I mean when I get to it. Basically just re-labeling the other dude, who has only 1 appearance, so it's not a ton of work. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 18:05, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
No need, I've done it all for you. --ASHPD24 20:25, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
I was maybe gonna suggest giving them more descriptive names than a list of numbers, in case a similar thing happens, (and also to be consistent with Unnamed Day 7 characters), but I suppose if it's done now we can leave it--Acer4666 20:28, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

No, I would just rename Burt Bulos agent as #2, and change merely his stuff. I have no idea what you did but I will betcha a buck that there are a good number of broken links out there now. I think we should revert those and just go with the Bulos agent change. Always, always change the bare minimum of entries. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:56, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

I had a look everywhere after the changes were made I could think of and couldn't find any broken ones (other than on Unnamed Day 7 characters), so maybe on userspace or talk pages, I dunno. But I'm pretty lost by now, so don't really know what to do!--Acer4666 21:03, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
Actor pages. More will turn up as well. I guess it's too late— so we'll stick with the new numbering. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:06, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
All the actors are redlinks--Acer4666 21:06, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
Oh heh, well then, easier for us! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:11, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
I try to help a little and you still have such contempt for me that you think I wouldn't go back and change all of the links? To be honest, I'm a little insulted. --ASHPD24 21:14, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
I never have contempt for editors, even vandals (...well, except maybe one), and I'm sorry you read it that way. I've looked back at what I wrote to make sure, and it revolves around the re-numbering, not you personally. I'm strapped for time so I'm not being my usual verbose self — I would venture a guess that my succinctness is being mistaken for brusqueness? So again, apologies if I came off sour. And for what it's worth, to reply to the other talk page response you made, I don't recall mistakes people make unless they repetitively make them; nothing about you comes to mind at all & this discussion was simply about this particular issue. You have to remember, however, that I myself have forgotten to change dozens of altered unnamed entry links in the past, and I've mentioned this about myself at various points too. So the feeling you felt that I projected onto you goes right back to myself immediately. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:20, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
I myself apoligize for coming off as paranoid, and I've already told Acer I have no hard feelings against him. I just thought you didn't think that I finished the work. In fact he couldn't tell if I was being smug or sincere with my comment about having done the work. I've read some articles on my condition, and they say most people with it can't diffrentiate if we're being rude or not, so I hope there's no hard feelings about it. --ASHPD24 22:56, April 15, 2011 (UTC)
Alrighty very good. This community and its members, I'm always proud that we solve things like this in a civilized and satisfactory way. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:59, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Back Edit

Thank you for new welcome i am back. i have done some "overhaul and expand" on the kim bauer on season 2 article, might i earn a barnstar if i finish> i have just done what i can remembre from the program but i cud watch the dvd to make sure i get everythin right :)--New Name 11:11, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Hahaha, you don't get a barnstar for that :) --Station7 17:59, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Heya New Name I'm glad you found some work that needed your attention. There are a few things to keep in mind; first remember to make as many edits to an article with as few saves as you can. This prevents flooding of page histories and the RecentChanges. And, on character pages (and character-by-season articles too) they are iu so the verb tense should be past tense, not present tense. Final note, remember to keep the edits serious :) You said something about Kim Bauer putting on a tight shirt that you could "see stuff through" — now although it is true, I'm sure you can agree it isn't the kind of thing that belongs in an encyclopedia. Thanks man and happy editing! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:23, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Day 7 FBI agent Edit

Hey, I think I've updated all the links to the unnamed non-CTU agents page - all except one, in the first paragraph of the episode guide of Day 7: 10:00pm-11:00pm. Now I don't have the DVD so can't confirm if the FBI agent mentioned in this episode is indeed one of the unnamed agents on the page (contrary to the unnamed page), or if it's someone who later had their name revealed, or if it's someone who should be on the unnamed page and never got made. I dunno if you (or someone else) can check this out? Just to finish off the job! Cheers--Acer4666 19:41, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

That's excellent work man, couldn't have done it better myself!
I just came back to fix that mistake I made about relabeling Charters/Turner's first episode from Yes to Note1, but I saw you already did it, thanks bro. (Must have gotten confused, especially since I was the clown that first added that image to show it was a Yes in the first place.) And you probably saw at this point that the final leftover guy was Mizelli. Very smooth transition, and I appreciate all that grunt work you did! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:51, April 17, 2011 (UTC)
Ah cool, cheers for checking it out so fast!
Ah there was something else I meant to ask you about: I remember at Template talk:Stunts you said that these templates mess up the "whatlinkshere" feature - now in theory, is the "hide transclusions" part of the whatlinkshere screen meant to not show links that are within templates? I mean it's a fairly moot point, seeing as that feature doesn't actually hide those links, but I was wondering if that's what it's supposed to do or if that hides something else?--Acer4666 21:11, April 17, 2011 (UTC)
When you hide transclusions, that only hides links to something when the links are inside double curly braces: you'll still see double bracket links listed. The most clear example of this I can think of is Template:Sidebar, which of course is linked in thousands of pages (4,224 at the moment, it seems). If you Hide Transclusions, you'll get this laughably small list of remaining links, which are the only few instances when people have linked to it regularly.
There should be a way to hide "links within templates" like you're getting at, however (I've always wanted it too). I just don't know how that can be done. It would probably require a software update and it's doubtful such a thing would happen in my estimation. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:37, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, cheers for explaining that above point, I understand what it's for now. Another quick question - have all the citations changed throughout the wiki recently for you as well as me? In short, they're not small anymore, they're the same size as the main text? Example: ("Day 1: 12:00am-1:00am")--Acer4666 22:49, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

Update: every bit of small writing is big for me, like the transcripts on your bluetooth cabal shrine--Acer4666 22:51, April 18, 2011 (UTC)
Further update: it's a wikia-wide problem, apparently they're looking into fixing it. [3]--Acer4666 09:10, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Aha, thank you for fixing this!--Acer4666 13:46, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Burkette's co-workers Edit

Can you check Day 5: 4:00pm-5:00pm (the 10th episode)at approximately 39:25 to find Burkette's co-workers' names? --William.Y.Fremont 09:51, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Sure thing, I'll get back to you here with what I can find. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:49, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
Hey, I thought I'd let you know what I could see on the computer screen - they were both born on June 11 (coincidentally), they both have brown hair, one has blue eyes the other brown, one is 5'11", and one of them lives at house number 1234. It seems like some serious "can't be arsed" filler material on the profiles, and the line at the top that would seem to be their name is the same on both people's profiles. But it's really hard to make anything out--Acer4666 14:53, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
Proudhug has Blu-Ray I think, maybe he can get a better look? But all I'm able to make out is the first name Michael and a surname like: Orevel, Gravei, Gravel, Orevei, or something like that. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 23:19, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

I definitely would if such a thing existed. Unfortunately there are only BDs for seasons 7 & 8, both of which I do have, yes. I also have a 720p TV rip of Redemption, which is slightly better than the DVD. But alas, Seasons 1-6 aren't available anywhere in HD. :( --proudhug 23:30, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Ah, crap, I could have figured that out if I researched for 2 seconds. Sorry for puttin ya on the spot! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 23:32, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

No problem. I saw Williams post and got excited to check it out, but then noticed what episode it was from. There are lots of things from the first six seasons I'd love to be able to see in HD. --proudhug 23:35, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

According to this file, I'm fairly sure that his name is Michael Gravel. I think the crew member just copy these names. So I wonder whether the Omicron scientist's name is spelled Alan Burkette or Alan Burkett. Also should we make pages for those characters in the file? --William 03:20, June 4, 2011 (UTC)
Haha it's John Surre again! I wonder who he is...--Acer4666 09:43, June 4, 2011 (UTC)
William for some reason I didn't understand what you found, and must have forgotten about it. So I checked the CCs on my R1 DVDs, and it's spelled Burkett, as you predicted. (The name isn't visible on the screen so this is the best we've got.) It seems that when BauerJ24 created that character's article back in 2006 he added the "e" as an honest mistake, so it needs to be moved soon. Also, given what you've found, I agree that the other visible Sentox scientist's name must be Michael Gravel, so he gets an article also.
As for your discovery of the names of Burkett and Gravel reappearing, how frustrating is that? it seems that those characters names were copied and pasted. Given the nature of CTU's Hatteras File, it seems impossible to me that the Season 5 Burkett and Gravel could be the same men as the Burkett and Gravel mentioned in Season 7. It's too much of a stretch. Since yes, those characters are eligible for entries, it seems we need to dab them with dab pages and suffixes. It's annoying but I am glad you found it William! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:14, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
For god's sake, I just read that Season 7 Hatteras File more carefully, and it mentions Omicron! So does everyone agree that perhaps Burkett and Gravel are the same people after all? I guess I jumped the gun on this one.... Blue Rook  talk  contribs 02:08, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
I think this Burkett, Gravel and Dinsmore were CTU supervisors. But yeah it's possible that this is a CTU-Omicron joint operation. --William 03:35, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
I'd say they were the same people. As an explanation I'd say Omicron (in their arms manufacture capacities) noticed dodgy doings of arms dealer Gabriel Schector, and got CTU to do the ground work. So the "project directors" reviewing the whole thing were Omicron guys, but the "project team" doing the cool spy stuff were CTU peeps.--Acer4666 10:10, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

Now what? Edit

Proudhug won't talk to me after that discussion because I kept insisting on adding that kill from 5x0 and he says I wouldn't compromise. What do you want to do about it? Do you agree with adding it? --ASHPD24 17:13, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

I'm always willing to listen to people's reasons for things, but you haven't seemed willing or able to provide any. Wiki 24's policy is that precedent stands until a consensus is reached that enough good reason has been provided to change things. --proudhug 19:10, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
Yep I'll reply there for the topic. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 23:19, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Curious questionEdit

Are you on Twitter of FaceBook? --Station7 19:59, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

Yes for Facebook; I tried to link the 2 accounts but it doesn't seem to work. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:28, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Have you seen the new chat feature they're making for wikia? What do you think of it? here--Acer4666 11:59, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

I can't tell, but is there a record leftover from the chats? In other words, do the chats have page histories. Or is it more like a normal chat room, which disappears when everyone leaves. This sounds good but I'm worried that consensus discussions won't be recorded and impossible to refer back to. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 15:11, April 27, 2011 (UTC)
haha - I asked exactly that, here. Great minds and all that eh?--Acer4666 15:15, April 27, 2011 (UTC)
Also, I think if this does go ahead and get stuck on the wikis that we should specify that wiki-relevant discussions are only valid on talk pages. Making edits and referring to a consensus reached in chat is not really that different to e-mails sent between editors to talk about things, in my opinion. But I think it'd be useful to see who is around when, for co-ordinating large changes done at the same time, and also for more informal talks to get to know the editors better, things that aren't worthy of talk page editing--Acer4666 15:19, April 27, 2011 (UTC)
Absolutely. I very much was hoping it was a live chat thing like Vent or a Skype sort of thing but a text chat is very neat too. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:44, April 28, 2011 (UTC)

Bar between title and article that's now gone Edit

Hey, just about that forum topic about the bar where we used to have icons and it's now gone - according to the comments here, apparently putting .WikiaPageHeader { border-bottom: 1px solid #D9D9D9; margin-bottom: 5px; } into the mediawiki:wikia.css page, it puts a bar back. I don't know if that would be an idea to see if the icons will go back to where they were? I dunno if that makes sense to you as something to do to the mediawiki files, anyway thought I'd mention it!--Acer4666 17:02, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

It's good you saw that, since it just may simplify everything. I linked the diff to your finding for the Wikia helper that was here earlier and if it makes sense to him, then I'll drop that line in there. Just want to wait for his input because I'm hesitant to play with that code, out of fear that I might screw stuff up. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 18:29, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! I hope we're allowed to do that - I know one of the staff at the community central said that we had "hacked the official wikia layout" by putting icons there, which I thought was a little bit of an extreme way of putting it!--Acer4666 18:56, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
I want to read whatever people were saying about our edits here, can you link it? All we wanted to do was keep the icons. There was no hacking involved, that's just weird to say. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 19:08, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
Ah well, not actually us personally! That link I put in my first post (goes to Dopp's blog), and she says:
"A small number of wikis had used Javascript to insert extra buttons into the grey bar. In these cases, the wikis’ extra buttons will likely also disappear at the time of this change. Since these modifications were hacks on official Wikia layout elements, we can't support them at the expense of a site-wide improvement, and we're sorry for that inconvenience."
I'm sure it was just a defensive thing to field complaints from wikis like ours, but still, rather accusative haha!--Acer4666 19:21, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
I tried the fix you linked to, and it didn't seem to work, so I blanked the Top Icons again. Did I add the code correctly to the media wiki message? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 03:21, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
I've left a message for the guy that suggested that fix; hopefully he can help!--Acer4666 11:35, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
He hasn't answered yet, but I don't think this will fix things. I just put that into the mediawiki at a wiki where I'm admin, and all it's done is put a line under the title, and I bet the icons will just sit under the line anyway. Check out this page to see what we're gonna get, and there's nowhere for the icons to go. I was thinking about just editing the icons template to stick a line under what appears, but my attempts haven't worked. Maybe DaNascat is gonna have to do it--Acer4666 15:02, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
Heya. I'm Eladkse, the editor who gave the code. I've found your problem: There is an open piece of css just before my code (It hasn't been closed with }). Close it, then replace my code with this new one:
.WikiaPageHeader { border-bottom: 1px solid #D9D9D9; margin-bottom: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px;}
That should get it working. The code only adds a divider between the title and the article; there is no way to restore the old bar.
If you need any more css help, just give me a call! Eladkse 15:33, 03 May 2011
Thank you Eladkse for your assistance, this will be great. At the moment it doesn't look like the changes are appearing on my screen, so I'll clear my cache and wait awhile (what I am seeing is a white horizontal bar that goes underneath the name, above all the content, but the spacing is still off). Acer is this fix working on your browser? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 02:42, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Of course,feel free to adjust the spacing in the code if it doesn't suit your wiki. 'margin' does the article side and 'padding' does the title side. {{SUBST:User:Eladkse/Sig|05:45, 4/05/2011}}
The line is there now, the spacing looks ok for me, except the icons go below the line, which still shoves the article content off into weird places (like on On-screen kills by Jack Bauer). I think maybe we need a line on the icons template, but I've no idea how to do that!--Acer4666 09:21, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
I don't know how to adjust this code, and am afraid to tinker around in there. And Acer when you said "line" I thought you meant "a blank hard return/clear-both" and not "a solid horizontal bar". But with the blank line in mind, what do you think we just stick a <br clear="both"> (which is the familiar {{-}}) into the template itself? I feel this is the simplest solution of all. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 11:04, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Ah obviously, that makes sense! I'm thinking put it onto the icons template, as wouldn't putting into the wikia.css push the icons template down as well?--Acer4666 11:18, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
It seems like ur idea worked (i think) in that now the article content is pushed down and the icons are at the top of everything. Perhaps we could remove that horizontal bar from the mediawiki now, unless people have a personal preference for it (I myself think it could go), and just stick with having the icons in the top and the content beneath them, without any sort of bar? I dno what you think aesthetics-wise--Acer4666 13:18, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
If you want to ditch the code, may I suggest using:
.WikiaPageHeader {margin-bottom: 5px;}
It looks quite good with this code setting. {{SUBST:User:Eladkse/Sig|15:54, 4/05/2011}}
Yes it does, I'm very happy we were able to save the icons. Thanks a ton Eladkse Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:38, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

New performer Edit

Hey Blue Rook, Acer says that he thinks Ed (formerly an unnamed goon of Kozelek Hacker's) is played by stunt actor Matt Flanagan. I checked out his imdb profile here, [4], and I think it's him for sure, but I wanted to wait what others say before adding him. Do you think it's the same guy? --ASHPD24 03:55, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

I agree that is almost certainly Matt Flanagan. He seems to look younger in his IMDB pictures but the resemblance is too strong for that to be a different man I'd say. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 04:25, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
I'll go ahead and add him now that he's most certainly confirmed. --ASHPD24 04:36, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
And while we're at it Blue Rook, do you think Flanagan is the same guy who plays McCullough? --ASHPD24 04:40, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think so. Check out here, Matt's 28, and the stunt actor is at least in his mid-thirties. --William.Y.Fremont 10:46, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
I've sent a facebook message to matt flanagan asking about the three roles (mccullough, ed, and the lock and load stuntman), in case anyone else was thinking of that - he was very friendly, saying he would be happy to help, and that the two roles he remembered from 24 were one getting shot by Jack, and another doubling for "Jack's cousin" in a speedboat (I'm thinking Josh Bauer). I'm still waiting for him to confirm mccullough and the other roles from pictures, will let you know!--Acer4666 11:35, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
He never got back to me, but I'm getting very confused about his roles. I have a feeling a different guy played all these roles. For me it's in the ears - in the nicest possible way, the guy on 24 has quite large sticky-out ears which Matt doesn't have. William I see you've added some s7 pics of the bloke to the photobucket site, I also noticed him as the flamethrower guy in the Suvarov motorcade attack, which I've added. This is the link to all the pics : here.
Also to quote Matt directly from the one message he sent me: "I worked on 2 diff episodes doubling 2 characters, one got shot by Jack and the other one I was doubling jacks cousin, with some boat and jet ski stuff. I'll be happy to help out , good luck brotya". He does say the sum total of his 24 work is doubling 2 characters (ie not playing characters in his own right). I dunno about this.--Acer4666 12:52, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

The uncertainty you're feeling is the reason why I have always been very limited in my addition of uncredited performers to the project (just a small handful of those confirmed from the Polish website, and a few like the Honorable Mentions in the Forbidden pages). And even then I still got a few wrong (primarily when I posted that Betts played Atef El-Khabir). Bottom line is, unless you're absolutely sure, we should just add potential information to some kind of project page (a new article in the Wiki 24 namespace), and, always avoid posting files with actor surnames in the file name unless certain, because it has the potential to be very misleading to new editors. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:55, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

I'm guilty of the bad filenames - I'll try to only upload IU character descriptions from now on. As for verification, I go off 4 different types of confirmation -
  1. Contacting the performer and getting them to unambiguously confirm it was them
  2. Seeing it as part of a performer's stunt/acting reel
  3. Seeing behind the scenes photos/special features on the dvd with them performing
  4. Positive visual identification from the on-screen shots.
Obviously this last point is the tricky one, and leads to errors at times (Marco Khan most recently for me, which I'm in the process of sorting out). I tend not to trust performer's resumes on their websites, or imdb etc etc, but that does help to cement a type 4 ident. For me the Matt Flanagan one wasn't 100% (due to the ears) which was why I was holding off on creating the article.
I'm hoping to get this performer worked out - I've contacted Dan Lemieux to see if he can shed any light on it, as he was also in the scene with Ed.--Acer4666 22:49, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Think I've finally worked it out: Erik Rondell--Acer4666 10:52, June 13, 2011 (UTC)
I feel more positive about this new ID too. Nice work man! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:46, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

new kvid Edit

Hey Blue Rook, I figured it would look better on the site to have an up to date kill vid, and I've already made one to replace Pyramidhead's out of date one if it's okay. --ASHPD24 16:55, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Of course it's okay, let's see it! You can link it like he did, in your user content. What are the different subtractions/additions in yours, compared to his? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 02:49, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Well overall I kept the action going at a bit more fluid rate, intact scenes save for minor camera angles and such, got rid of any problems on the oil rig shootout, replaced the first 2 kills in Redemption, and added the last 3 Season 7 kills as well as all of Season 8. I'll get it up first thing now. Hope you like rock n' roll. --ASHPD24 02:55, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Alright Blue Rook, I've got the vid uploaded. Just check it out using the link on my page or the kills page. Hope you like it. And if there's any problems with the vid, just let me know. --ASHPD24 01:11, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
I'm slowly making my way through it (a little strapped for time this morning) and it's quite impressive! I didn't know what to expect but it is amazing to see such a completely original creation. The pacing and clips are all different from the other kill lists I've seen which is refreshing. (The Redemption kills list seems accurate and unchanged, what do you mean you changed the first 2 kills there?) Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:38, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
Pyramidhead didn't have them in because he said they would just be knocked out and they got back up later, but no one in that close proximity would survive and those 2 guys are never seen again so I'm not sure why he thought that. --ASHPD24 14:56, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

24 info graphic Edit

Hey Blue Rook, Thanks for the message. I was hoping to get your thoughts on my graphic. Anything you dislike/see missing from it?

It's best to view it on because I have the image mapping in the page so you can hover over the characters and see who they are.

That link:

It took a long time - I'm big 24 fan so I loved every minute of it.

I love that image too! Obviously a labour of love - very good to see. Taking a look, I guess although it would be a long twisty line, you could connect Graem Bauer and Walt Cummings with a red one, as he was apparently responsible-ish for that death? Anyway, great to see another dedicated fan of the show, hope you can stick around!--Acer4666 21:41, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Aidan it's very complex, but if I do see something that's missing I'll be sure to let you know. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:38, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Category removal Edit

No probs about the edit summary - it was unintentional on my part, I never went near them categories haha! Dunno why it removed them for me, maybe a bug in wikia. Or maybe I clicked on them accidentally and just didn't realise--Acer4666 22:20, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yes it's a weird bug, I've seen it a good number of times before from all kinds of editors. It seems to have been born out of one or more of those new editing tools Wikia has been adding over the recent past, I think? No worries at all. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:32, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Just about another edit summary - so is that deletion note on the appearances temp saved for entirely deleted characters? It is used for Azara Nasir, Alam et there a reason we can't use it for those that appear canonically elsewhere?--Acer4666 14:08, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

In short, in some older discussions (and this relatively-newer one: Forum:Re-opening the character appearances template consensus discussion) Proudhug does not want appearances templates being used to link episodes of pre-recorded footage because the characters did not appear live. I'm 99.99% certain he would also refuse deleted appearances on the exact same grounds. This has spurred me to make a minor proposal over on Template talk:Appearances, which will be appearing within an hour or two.
Also, regarding Alam/Azara/etc, there are 2 points of interest. First, since those articles are completely OOU, the appearances template is used differently. Second, that little Appear-Template note itself "deleted scenes only" was never actually very useful in my opinion. See the discussion topic I'm going to post soon, mentioned above. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:38, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
Cool cool. Just in response to the fact that the appearances templates being used on an OOU article is different to that on an IU one - I don't necessarily agree that it's a different use, as in both cases the section is clearly completely OOU, so I don't see how the tone of the rest of the article changes that. But, I'll check out the new discussions you bring up--Acer4666 14:50, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

This image Image:Edoardoballerini.jpg hasn't a template from fairuse. Just want to say it :P --Station7 16:59, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

That one is one of the dozens and dozens of old pictures that we deemed invalid after they were all uploaded and we looked into the licensing. This means, Fairuse doesn't apply to that one, or many of the pics in Category:Images (cast). (The gist is, eventually, all such non-24 OOU images will be replaced with ones eligible for Fairuse, or even simply swapped out for the IU character images.) Day 5 CTU agent Edit

Pete Walsh

I thought I'd just ask before I went ahead with this: Pete Walsh, who as you can see from his imdb pic, definitely plays a CTU agent. I've uploaded a pic of who I think is definitely him, from Day 5: 4:00am-5:00am. This guy also appears in 5:00pm-6:00pm at the hospital (with important lines), and I've seen him in several other s5 episodes. I was gonna make an unnamed character entry for him, but I just wanted to check - is this guy already on the wiki? Does he have a name? I actually think he plays one of Barnes (Day 5) or Witt, as Curtis clearly addresses two guys when he says those names and one of them I think is this guy.--Acer4666 19:26, June 6, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I've checked and am more confident on the Witt/Barnes ident, so have brought this up at Talk:Witt.--Acer4666 21:38, June 6, 2011 (UTC)

Temporary terrorist images? Edit

First, sorry for not putting the fairuse tag. Seems like I missed it in some. Anyway, I think that some of the pictures can be incorporated into some articles. Others can be cropped and re-uploaded. Let's see how everything works out as we continue to shuffle through the airport episodes, and we'll see which one we can leave or not, ok? Thief12 04:20, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Sure no problem. I wasn't sure if by refraining from adding Fairuse, it was your way of indicating that these would be taken down or moved off-site at some point. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 04:28, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for missing the fairuse tag again. I thought I added it to them all. And we can get rid of most of the images later. Thief12 02:06, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Nayo K.Wallace Edit

This woman looks like Wallace. And also please check the talk above regarding Burkette's co-workers. --William 15:02, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

I don't own Season 8 yet, so I can't give an opinion beyond the image you have here. But I do agree it really looks like her. Does she have any lines, or appear elsewhere? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:14, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
I think this is the only scene where this character appears. She's saying something on the TV but the audio is not available. --William 03:35, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

Special features Edit

Hi there. It's been a long time. I'll be right to the point, I need help. The Region 4 box set for 24 is different to what is contained in the region 1 box set, namely, very few special features. I'm trying to get Wikipedia's article on 24, the top result on Google when you search for 24, to Featured article status, the best an article on Wikipedia can be. I'm somewhat stuck though, and could use your help. I'm having trouble finding a lot of the special features, namely , 24: Behind the Scenes: The Editing Process, 24 Season 6: Opening with a Bang, and a few more. I'm also trying to find the original source of this video which is a S5 behind the scenes after Tony was supposedly killed, and also, want to confirm this is The Technology of 24 video. I'm most after information on of creation of the season 1 set, and info on real time and the ticking clock. I'll watch your page here. Thanks :) SteveTalk 12:28, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'll drop a reply at the forum thread, Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:47, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

Map file Edit

Hey, are you able to un-delete files? Sorry I forgot that map file was still kicking around in the unused files, I was gonna stick it onto the Los Angeles streets article. Should I just upload it again?--Acer4666 08:46, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

Sure, it's back up. My apologies for the trigger-happy delete finger; there was a tiny nagging doubt in my head that you may not have been done with the file, but I figured wrongly. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:46, June 13, 2011 (UTC)
Awesome, thank you! I'll go stick it in now--Acer4666 21:59, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

License tags in pictures Edit

Hey, I replied to you awhile ago on my talk page, but I don't know if you read it. Anyway, here it is:

"My apologies again, but I noticed that the 'Upload' window that pops up when I press 'Add Photo' won't put the 'Fairuse' tag, even when I choose it from the pull-down menu. That's why you had to fix so many pictures I've uploaded recently."

Basically this happens only when I use the "Add Photo" button that appears on the right-hand sidebar of the Wiki. The "Upload" window it presents lets me choose the license I want from a pull-down menu, but then it doesn't add it to the image article. That's why you had to add a lot of the license tags for the images I uploaded last week. Thief12 16:50, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Acer4666 Edit

How is this guy not an admin yet?? --proudhug 17:45, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

I realized that when Pagemove was created, and he got those rights and Rollback as well, he had two of the most important Admin functionalities anyway and sort of forgot about the rest. Basically I'm just a forgetful bum! but hey you must be one too ;) It wouldn't have been long, though, since Acer was overdue for another Dead On. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 23:18, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

I figured you just didn't want to lose your spot as first on the alphabetical list of admins. Or perhaps I just wanted to prevent him from receiving another Dead On award. Either way, it was a high-up conspiracy, I'm sure. --proudhug 02:42, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Orchestrated no doubt via a bulky satellite phone to a shadowy group of obscure powerbrokers. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:13, July 2, 2011 (UTC)
Those darned pesky powerbrokers...--Acer4666 14:42, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Featured article Edit

Hey, I did the old switcheroo for the FA. I think you may be right about insufficient interest in the thing to keep it going for much longer...but I think it's good we've got something new on the main page. Perhaps if we can think of something else to go there then it may be an idea to replace it with something else!--Acer4666 14:42, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

Phew, that's a lot of uses of the word "think"--Acer4666 14:43, July 2, 2011 (UTC)
I do like the idea of the FA in the main page. I just wasn't paying any attention to the logistics behind it. I would be willing to check on it from now whenever needed, and will try to be more proactive with noms as well. Thief12 21:15, July 2, 2011 (UTC)

How do it come that the character-by-season articles, the infoboxes are on the right. On my site, they are on the left. Can you help me? Maybe I'm missing MediaWiki:CSS or something? --Station7 14:17, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Hey station7, are you able to link to an example article on the wiki you are talking about?--Acer4666 14:37, July 9, 2011 (UTC)
Acer, I mean this. --Station7 14:50, July 9, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to disappoint but I don't know why they are different. Looking at the wiki code in such complicated templates is too difficult for me to understand. You probably can get an answer on the Wikia IRC though. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 07:06, July 10, 2011 (UTC)
I too don't really understand it station7, but if you go to Mediawiki:wikia.css and look at the section marked "sidebar formatting", and copy all of that section into your mediawiki:wikia.css page on the prison break wiki, it may put it in the right place. I believe the pertinent lines are "clear: right;" and "float: right;". But I don't guarantee it'll work; give it a go and I guess you can revert the changes if it doesn't work!--Acer4666 07:28, July 10, 2011 (UTC)

She was tied up...yes, with hands and barefeet...Edit

Just spent 10 mins in stitches looking at these contributions and your subsequent messages to him. Haha what the hell was all that? Whats up with the barefeet?--Acer4666 15:08, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

PS I wonder if the guy ever came back to the site?--Acer4666 15:15, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I don't remember that at all. Fucking hilarious! --proudhug 16:59, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Haha, and there's more. I dunno why I find this so funny - I think it's cos when I read it in my head, all I hear is "bear feet"--Acer4666 18:37, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Some S&M fetishistic freak? All his edits were about handcuffs, bindings, "barefeet"... I'm picturing the Pulp Fiction gimp with a laptop inside his box, editing the 24 Wiki... That said, I thought this Acer correction was more hilarious. Bravo! :-D Thief12 19:43, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
It's friggin awesome you guys are able to find the humor in this too. That's really all you can do, is laugh! It's so profoundly stupid, there's no other legitimate reaction. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 19:59, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Maya11's mystery source Edit

Hey Blue Rook, I don't know what this is or if it's relevant or not, but I know you spent a lot of time on Maya11's web of lies haha! There's a list of 24 characters which match what she added to the site here. The list has a "talk page", which from the time stamps indicate it was done around june 2006 (before Maya11 added her stuff here). It's possible that she filled that list with false info before coming here, or that was the "source" she used. I'm sure it's all lies anyway, but I thought you may be interested to see it. One of the contributors to the list seems to be "lucy-marie", who works on the wikipedia 24 project I believe--Acer4666 14:55, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I've just realised what it is, it's like a cached version of the wikipedia page. Ignore me haha--Acer4666 14:56, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that page is doubtless a result of this edit on wikipedia. Sorry to be pattering on about this - I just find it strange that she got Tracie Dominguez right, makes me wonder if there was a source somewhere--Acer4666 19:16, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Looking back, I may have been a bit vindictive about Maya back then. It's weird because Proudhug and StBacchus were so patient about it, merely reverting and asking her for sources like admins should... but when I came along after Maya had left... I sort of blew my top with that whole post on her talk page. (I remember thinking: "I better do this now, before I'm an admin, since I can't pull a stunt like this afterward".) Thing is, if it all turns out to be accurate, I'd be the first to apologize. It still looks 100% like trolling, however: the IP for the anon editor who added that stuff in the Wikipedia diff you just linked ( is certainly the same person as our very own, who is one of the 19 confirmed Maya IPs I have in my records. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 19:59, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
Which I find hilarious, since it's now you who seems more patient with potential trolls, while I'm Mr. Skeptical Just-Ban-the-Fucker, haha. --proudhug 01:00, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Villain factor Edit

Hi, isn't there someone else who has a similar villain rating list? OneWeirdDude 20:59, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

You're thinking of Protocol Red, a user active primarily in the summer of 2007 & made a handful of edits afterward, who was inspired by mine and made a similar list. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:01, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
Hey thanks! OneWeirdDude 23:23, July 20, 2011 (UTC) (P.S. I'll get your messages quicker if you message me instead of yourself.)

Death cause vs. cause of death Edit

I'm not sure, but the latter sounded better for some reason. OneWeirdDude 22:19, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Kavita Patil Edit

Kavita Patil

Dude look what I found...cheeky little CTU worker listening to Alberta Green's speech at CTU - I'm sure it's her! Your instincts were right - you agree?

PS It's really quite sad how excited I was to find this 8)--Acer4666 13:27, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Acer, I also made a page for this, but it was deleted! THanks to you it can be verified! --Station7 13:55, August 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yes it was deleted by Simon, because you wrote in an edit summary "Blue rook could you please delete this page, there is no proof". We can restart the page any time now that it has been verified. (No need to restore the old revisions since there wasn't any content.) Good work dudes! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:42, August 4, 2011 (UTC)
That's right, but it was also because I don't have a screenbutton at all. And since there was no evidence, I thought, delete it, but I was sure it was her. Problem solved :P --Station7 10:41, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

Season 2, another CTU deadeye Edit

CTU first deadeye closeup

closeup, Southpaw who shoots Nina in Day 2

This guy is similar to the CTU deadeye who shot Kingsley, but there is another CTU deadeye who deftly snipes Nina's rifle out of her hands when Jack is toying with her, so the other CTU agents can detain her (this is after their plane was shot down by Coral Snake).

Love the page by the way, it's hilarious. Nfl392 14:35, August 8, 2011 (UTC)

Edit: I was able to get some shots Another good closeup

This is just the kind of guy that fits for that page! Thanks Nfl392, let me know if you find more. (In the future also please remember the image policy: all uploads need an image category so we know where they are from; any questions just ask!) Same userEdit

I think this is the same user as Acer blocked earlier: Special:Contributions/ --Station7 15:17, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah it's the same guy. Now he's gonna "fuck" us real hard. --William 15:27, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
I'll do an IP range block. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:24, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
