Hey, I have been watching 24 for 2 years now and love the 'real time' aspect of the programme although I have not seen 24 aired on tv I have bought all the Boxsets.

My Favourite Favourite Pages Are..... On-screen kills by Jack Bauer Is it really possible to kill 267 people without getting killed?

Welcome!

Hey there! It's great to see you getting involved in the site! I hope you can stick around. Just to let you know, our image policy at the site is to not upload images that aren't sourced from 24 - so we'd have to get a shot of a macbook from the show for that computers page. I'll try to upload one soon to replace your pic! In the mean tiome, if you see your pic deleted, that'll be why. If you're interested, I started some notes about the computers from the first season here, perhaps you can carry on identifying where I left off?--Acer4666 11:07, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Awesome! I've moved the page on computers to here: User:Lewisphelan/Computers. It's now a sub-page of your userpage, which is a more suited location while it's still in note form as a personal project. Once you've managed to verify when the computers appear etc., and bulked the list out a bit, we can move it back so it becomes part of the main encyclopedia!
Couple more notes - the categories you add at the bottom of the page are designed to group together similar articles. They're not search keywords about the topic - and we tend to favour as few categories as possible on each page. eg, you added the category "stephen merchant" to the stephen merchant page, but he would be the only page in that category!

Also, capital letters just for proper nouns :). Anyway, these a just a few minor things, editing on wikia is always a learning curve so you'll soon get used to the practices. Thanks,,--Acer4666 12:12, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks--Lewisphelan 12:19, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

if i find a photo on google that has the thing i want on it and it was a snapshot from the series can that be used? thanks--Lewisphelan 12:24, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, all snapshots from the TV program are permissible images.--Acer4666 13:24, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
Is the Chris Moyles image from a 24 source? If not, it's okay, because we still have the image of Carr to use instead. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 16:40, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Discussions

Hey, about your recent changes to the Todd Wasserman (character) article - the general principle we have here is, that if someone reverts one of your edits, you start a dialogue on the article's talk page, or perhaps the talk page of the editor who reverted it, rather than just re-doing your edit. Discussions cannot be properly had via edit summaries, so if you made an edit which someone has decided to revert, a discussion on a talk page is required.

Secondly, I was just wondering about the new Computers seen in 24 article you've started? Remember that we moved it User:Lewisphelan/Computers until it's a bit more complete? Perhaps you could start a discussion in the forum about how best to deal with pages about technology from the show. Anyways, happy editing otherwise!--Acer4666 13:56, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

I'll second the various things Acer is pointing out. Also, to answer one of your specific questions from the character edit summary: we are including those IPs because they are facts that are from the show. There really isn't much else to put in those little articles, after all. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 18:56, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

When you upload a picture, please give it a name to the file. Without a name, we can't source it. --Station7 20:30, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

A page on Osama bin Laden? --Lewisphelan 20:32, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

Osama bin Laden is mentioned in Findings at CTU, a book around 24, so therefor, it deserves an article. --Station7 20:34, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Lewis, to find out what sources are eligible to have information included in this project, take a look at the canon policy. As station7 says, Osama Bin Laden was mentioned in Findings at CTU, one of the 24 fiction books.
About the images, again station7 is right, the image you uploaded currently contravenes our image policy. It needs a descriptive file name, as "vlc-snap" followed by a load of numbers tells us nothing about the content of the image. Also, .jpg files are preferred to .png for screenshots as they are a lot smaller, and every image needs the {{fairuse}} tag put into the image description. It also needs to be categorised, in terms of what episode it came from. Are you able to tell me which episode that drone shot is from, and I can do the steps to show you how to go about making the image comply with our policies? Many thanks--Acer4666 20:54, August 21, 2011 (UTC)
6x14 drone

I re-uploaded the file as .jpg

To decrease file size like Acer said, I re-uploaded the image as .jpg. I also added Fairuse and category tag, too. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 06:15, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I am taking snapshots of season 6 and naming them and then i will start converting them to .jpg's--Lewisphelan 17:15, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

also please could you move my Computers seen in 24 to the computer categories page. thanks --Lewisphelan 17:21, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

That's great to hear; it helps keep everything organized and labeled, especially regarding which episode each image came from.
Also, the content was originally moved to User:Lewisphelan/Computers so all your work can be done there. When it's up to standard regarding organization, layout, citations, quality, etc., then we can move it back to the main article area. But until that point, you should move all the pertinent content from Computers seen in 24 to User:Lewisphelan/Computers. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 17:36, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

Image Policy

Hey, just another reminder about uploading images and what you need to do - the picture you just uploaded needs {{fairuse}} put into its description, and also needs to be put into the relevant episode category. Which episode was it from?--Acer4666 11:26, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

You uploaded the picture from File:Wallace.png, but this isn't sourced according to the image policy. Please add the category from which episode it comes from. --Station7 16:48, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Image Policy again

Hi Lewis, if you keep uploading pictures with a {{fairuse}} tag or an episode category, they'll be deleted and your edits reverted. If you have any questions at all or problems on how to do this, just communicate with us and we'll be happy to explain. But we can't keep allowing images that contravene our policy--Acer4666 18:21, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Ah, he means without a fairuse tag. Always use a fairuse tag when uploading photos. --ASHPD24 20:01, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
