Random question[]

Hey man, sorry this is such a random question but: On your collection of 24 stuff photo, I see you have the 24: Countdown Game, as well as a "24 card game". Googling these implies that they are the same game, made by Briarpatch, and the "24 card game" seems just to be the cards from the Countdown game. Is this true, do you possibly know? Or are they distinct games? Thanks!--Acer4666 (Talk) 21:50, January 22, 2017 (UTC)

Long time no see[]

Hey proudhug! It has certainly been a while, hope you're well. The project is still trundling along - hope you can stick around for a bit! --Acer4666 (talk) 17:06, September 28, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah I was shocked when you popped up lol. Amazing that it's been 11 years now - the earliest thing I remember is making the articles for Sam and Liddy the week 605 aired --Pyramidhead (talk) 18:33, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
I do pop in from time to time, but don't do much editing, unfortunately. Hopefully I can get more involved again once the new show starts. I'm excited for that.
I'm happy we still have an amazing core base of editors who've been around for years and years. I'm proud of the work everyone's done over the years and still think we have BY FAR one of the best TV show encyclopedias in existence! Our standard of excellence is off the charts, if you ask me.
Happy 11th birthday! --proudhug (talk) 01:44, September 30, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, Proudhug. Do you have an e-mail where I can contact you? Let me know if you'd rather have mine. Thief12 (talk) 17:38, August 2, 2014 (UTC)

The Ultimate Guide[]

Hey Proudhug, not sure if you're around to read this...but do you remember discussing the canonicity of 24: The Ultimate Guide? Pyramidhead says the whole book is written from an in-universe perspective, but I remember you said that it was strictly out-of-universe. I unfortunately don't have the book myself - can you offer any insight? Thanks!--Acer4666 (talk) 10:21, January 29, 2014 (UTC)

Wikia Video[]

Someone from Wikia left this message in my talk page and I thought I should share it with you all (Acer, Blue Rook, Proudhug) just in case it's something we'd like to include here.

I am writing to give you some exciting news - Wikia Video has recently received some fresh videos on 24. Many of the videos embedded on wikis come from sites like YouTube and often become unavailable when they are removed or taken down for copyright violations there. To help provide a reliable and legal option, Wikia has licensed thousands of videos for use on your wikis from several content partners. These are all found in Wikia Video. They are viewable worldwide and Wikia has the full license for these videos, which means your wiki can use them anywhere you like.
Through a quick search, I found this set of videos for the 24 Wiki Please let me know if you need any help adding them on your community, or have feedback on the videos. We are working hard to improve the content and tools for adding videos, so let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions. Ariana 22:38, August 6, 2013 (UTC)

Filming location help[]

Hey, I just finished putting my findings onto the filming locations on 24 pages for the first 7 seasons - but there's still lots more places to be identified! (although I did get all the easy ones).

I was wondering if you could help me out with a season 7 one - I'm trying to find out where the Ritter Building was filmed, for the scenes of Jack and Bill breaking in through the rooftop. I know you have the blu-ray which shows things a bit clearer - at my DVD time 08:14, as Jack runs across the roof, a white building is visible in the background with a logo and writing in the corner of it. It's just too blurry to make out on the DVD, but it may be legible on the blu-ray. I wondered if you were able to check it out? Thanks!--Acer4666 (talk) 21:49, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Managed to find it - it said "Borax"!--Acer4666 (talk) 23:11, October 14, 2012 (UTC)

Season 1 deleted/extended scenes[]

Hey Proudhug, I wondered if you could help me sort out some confusion with the Season 1 special edition extended episodes. I was under the impression that the final episodes of Season 1 on the Special edition DVD were identical to the versions shown in the UK, and released on the UK DVD - ie, including all of the italics sections we have on the episode guides. But the last "deleted scene" listed is the bit from Day 1: 10:00pm-11:00pm when Teri tells Nina she's pregnant. Is this scene included in the episode and as a deleted scene? Or does the US Special edition match the UK DVD version except this one scene? Thanks!--Acer4666 (talk) 19:44, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

Weird, I replied to the Situation Room thread about this, and saw your message afterwards. Despite having bought the R1 S1:SE DVDs the day they came out, I only recently discovered here that they're the unedited versions! Unfortunately, I've yet to go through and verify that this for myself, or to see what the specific differences are, but it seems people have done this on the episode synopses in the same way Redemptions's extra scenes were added. --proudhug (talk) 17:24, July 14, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I see! Yeah I noticed that the "Teri tells Nina she's pregnant" scene was included on our deleted scenes page (making it non-canon) and as an italic section of Day 1: 11:00pm-12:00am (making it canon), which confused me!
As for the UK DVD's, they definitely include the "extended" cuts (ie the italics stuff on our episode guides) and all the previously segments, and my guess is the UK VHS has the same--Acer4666 (talk) 23:24, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

Welcome back! It's been a while - I hope you can stick around and help out with the filming locations pages--Acer4666 (talk) 13:04, April 7, 2012 (UTC)

Krugman talk[]

Hey proudhug, if you're around I was wondering if you could check out talk:Krugman. We've managed to identify Mariah Pasos as his partner, meaning the "Sam" of the credits definitely refers to that character, the debate is whether we can move the article to "Sam Krugman" or not. Thanks !--Acer4666 13:14, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

For the life of me, I can't find the discussion where Findings was determined to be retconned by the Nightfall comics. What's the story with that stuff again? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:12, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, dunno if it's exactly what you're looking for but Talk:Operation_Nightfall goes into the retcon a bit, I think that's the major part of the book that was later contradicted--Acer4666 08:03, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
Is that all there is? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 20:57, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
All there is in terms of retcons, or discussion on the wiki about it? That's all I could find for discussion but I haven't looked super hard, and I dunno bout retcons cos I haven't read either book - but I think saying Robert Ellis was one of the team goes against the show quite a bit (though it depends how you define Jack "leading a 6 man team", is he included in the 6?)--Acer4666 21:01, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the entire conversation, Rook. And Acer, Ellis was labeled "Savoy Seven" during the mission, but since he wasn't actually on the "battlefield" I guess he wasn't considered part of the "6-man team" that Jack lead. I don't see that it goes against the show, per se. --proudhug 01:43, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess it's down to interpretation - I (and findings at CTU) took "Jack led a 6 man team" to mean Jack was the leader, leading 6 other men, whereas it could also mean a six-man team of which Jack was one of the men (and the leader). Both ways work.
Not that I've read Nightfall, but does it also suggest that Mike Novick knew about the operation? Cos I thought it was quite explicit in the show that he knew nothing about it, though I'd have to re-watch the show and also see exactly what Nightfall says about his involvement.--Acer4666 09:31, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, just discovered something - the show does state that seven men went to Kosovo, of which 6 were reported dead. In Day 1: 2:00pm-3:00pm Palmer says "I know you lost 6 men in the process". So Ellis being one of those six men is a contradiction of the show--Acer4666 12:03, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

Homeland Wiki assistance.[]

Hello, you have great experience with the beginning and crafting of a Wiki site and as such, I am looking for assistance with a Wiki based on Howard Gordon's new 24-like show, Homeland. The link to the Wiki is here. I have founded it and am looking for good admins.

Roger Murtaugh 04:53, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate you thinking of me, Roger, however my experience with launching wikis is likely quite out-dated. The ones I've begun were started years ago when Wikia was a very different place. As a matter of fact, they were called Wikicities back then! Additionally, I no longer have television, so I don't have access to Gordon's show, nor much time to watch it if I did. I wish you all the luck, though! --proudhug 00:34, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
No problem and that's a shame. It hasn't aired yet, but I am aiming it to be pretty much a replica of this one, of sorts. This is the perfect layout for the show. Roger Murtaugh 05:05, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

Bauer house[]

Hey, I did a veeeery rough interpretation of the Bauer house layout here, I apologise for how visually disgusting it looks, I can't really remember why I picked those colours. Anyways that is my rough idea of where stuff is, I dunno if it relates to what you had? Also, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the discussion here, as I was proposing a change to the timeline page and know you're something of an authority on the 24 timeline!--Acer4666 09:48, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Cool, thanks for that! I'm still working on my layout, which I'm hoping will be as accurate as possible. The area with the alarm wasn't seen in the first episode, so there's no error there. Although there are other possible errors, such as the location of things in the kitchen and such. I'll chime in on that timeline thread soon. --proudhug 02:35, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Record Store[]

Hey proudhug, just about the record store/foxsports office thing at 1925 S Bundy drive - was just wondering who said it was a record store? Was it not Or are they the same thing or something haha? I don't have the special edition s1 dvd with the commentary, so dunno the context of them mentioning it there. The only reason I ask is that Joseph Hodges says it was, also the building doesn't look like a record store, and also in this link [1] lists the technical support address of foxsports at 1925 S Bundy Drive. (Also you'll have to forgive my ignorance being from england and stuff - a record store is a place you buy CD's and stuff isn't it?)--Acer4666 09:38, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Also, sorry about not getting round to doing the locations thing I said I would! I kind of got caught up in the "stuntman rush" as it were haha. The page you made looks great, I'll try to add to it when I get time--Acer4666 09:42, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
Might it be a better idea to pagemove Acer's user page out of his user space for this (if he wants)? Acer4666 this would mean all your history edits would be moved into the Main namespace, and the user page would be a redirect. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 15:01, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Here's the relevant discussion from the S1:SE commentary:

(Jack gets out of his car)
Hopkins: "All right, this is the record company off Barrington, which is next to a big satellite TV place."
Levy: "Yeah, wasn’t it Fox Sports World, that was all their satellites?"
Hopkins: "Oh God, I wish I’d known that, I could’ve watched all the soccer I wanted to in the world."
(Jack enters CTU talking to Teri on the phone)
Hopkins: "But this was a record company lobby which we just did a lot of stuff to. Carlos Barbosa fixed it all up and we just tried to shoot it."

(Jack and George talk in Jack’s office)
Hopkins: "And this office was real, too, wasn’t it? It wasn’t built."
Levy: "That’s right, we couldn’t move anything."
Hopkins: "A record executive’s office. Above, looking down on everyone in the room."

It's possible they're both misremembering, but it doesn't seem like it. But the 1925 Bundy address being listed as Fox Sports World is very peculiar.

The building at 1999 Bundy with the satellites on the roof is definitely a Fox building as the sign clearly says "Fox Television Center" as seen on Google Street View. 1933 Bundy has no company logo on it, but it's physically attached to 1925, which carries the "Rubicon Project" logo. 1901 Bundy also has no logo, but it's also attached to 1925, via a courtyard.

It's possible Fox owns or owned the entire complex and the record store was leased out. I agree it doesn't at all look like a record store. Or maybe Fox Sports News somehow sold records (CDs?) themselves, and this was just their head office and not really a store.

I also found this site which gives somewhat of a history of 1901/1925/1933 Bundy, as well as the building behind them at 12333 West Olympic Boulevard. I'm not sure it clears anything up, but Fox is not mentioned anywhere in the assessment. --proudhug 17:14, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

And since Hodges didn't actually work on the pilot episode, I'd be more inclined to believe Hopkins' word. Also, I congratulate you on having found the Sheldon St. location. I couldn't find that for the life of me, despite that large "11916" on the side of the building taunting me. --proudhug 17:49, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for typing that all out. I managed to find the original place that led me onto tracking down the location - the comments section of the site here [2]. I think I've figured it out - it was going through a transition period when the 24 guys filmed there - Fox Interactive Media (which perhaps produced CD's?) was being downsized, before it got built up to be part of So I guess, it's a record company that was being turned into a website office. I dunno. the commentary doesn't say store though, just company, which explains the look of the building.
And sheldon street - I think that was a massive lucky guess by finding long streets in the valley and going to 11916 haha! what a nerd I am
Also, I don't think a pagemove from my userspace is necessary, unless Blue Rook wants to - the history is just me adding bits and pieces, a lot was done offline, I don't mind it being deleted once all the information's been transferred into a better organised page--Acer4666 17:56, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Masterful detective work! I've gone through some crazy-ass stuff to find movie and TV locations in the past, and very often that involves literally "walking" up and down Google Street View until you find the place you're looking for.

Also, if you do want to move your userpage and just incorporate anything I've done to S1FL, I won't mind. The only thing is that the IU stuff would have to be removed, of course. It's your call. --proudhug 18:12, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Two questions[]

1. Would you stick around this time? And not just for the discussion on Wiki 24 talk:Canon, where personally I'm willing to compromise in a manner that leaves the project essentially untouched.
2. What cool details can you share about your talks with the 24 TCG guys? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 07:09, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

I have a third... when can we see your frickin' timeline?! Haha. --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 09:18, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

1. My departure wasn't exactly deliberate. I had a bunch of crappy things going on in my life in the summer/fall that pulled me away from this project as well as most other things. Then I didn't get the chance to see Season 8 when it premiered and that was a big deterrent to stay away from here until I got caught up. I still haven't started S8 yet, so I'm treading lightly on the site, but I'm hoping to get it done soon so I can get back into the full swing of things. I can't promise I won't ever disappear again, but I'm somewhat here for now, and I can promise that I'll always be back and never be too far, no matter how long I depart. As I eluded to previously, I've got a brand new Wiki 24 project that I've been working on and I'm extremely excited to see how much others can help.

2. There's not a whole lot to share about our conversations. Before the project was launched, I'd been contacted to help out with certain pieces of information, and they promised to help out the site with some exclusive stuff from Fox. Unfortunately, it never really got to the point where either of us got to help each other much, other than a bit of exposure of the Card Game on Wiki 24. Fox gave them a little bit of leeway with creating first and last names characters (but not major ones like Mandy or Max, obviously), and they'd even talked about potentially using my name for one of the characters if the Game had continued.

3. It's hilarious you mention that because I resumed work on it a couple days ago after a long hiatus. Unfortunately I've still got quite a bit of work to do, so it won't be done any time soon, but I'm hoping to go full force as much as I can. --proudhug 15:10, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

How are things? You have been gone for awhile, and I trust it's not on account of some dissatisfaction with something concerning this project. None of the relatively minor changes that have taken place seem like things you might leave the project over. Am I right? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 15:35, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Press release as canon[]

Please sound off on User_talk:Rebel2477. Basically, the last name "Coughlin" was revealed there for Nick and currently we don't have it explicitly in the canon policy. Accept it or reject it as a source for names? I strongly believe we should, given the same reasoning we use show recaps in the same way. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 00:37, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Navigation templates[]

Hey, I noticed you're starting to move the Season templates to the bottom on each episode page. If you could hold off for a while, I'm planning to do that with a bot as soon as it's flagged - just thought I'd save you some effort. :)

Also, I'll fix those arrows so they're aligned on the far left and right, at some point soon. --Pyramidhead 03:17, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Awesome. I was just in there so I figured I'd do it then. Thanks. --proudhug 03:19, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Proudhug can you sound off on Forum:Episode titles? A mass-scale bot-assisted change might occur and I don't remember you having any input on this. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 21:44, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

Seen are you are the king of 24 merchandise I thought you'd be the best person to ask about this. In my time I've collected a few promotional copies of 24 DVDs that are limited/special editions (you can see some of them on my collection image). I don't know how to include these into the project but I think its important that we do. There's a special edition cover of Season 1, Season 3, and I've seen a special Season 4 once but I didn't win it on eBay. Also there's a shop in England called HMV who have released their own covers of Season 5, Season 6 (which I have) and Redemption. What I was thinking is that since they are all R2 (or at least all work on my DVD player) we just have a "Different covers" section or something like that on the R2 DVD pages, and just have a gallery of the different covers. Does that sound like a good idea to you? I'll get some scans of my different covers in the near future to demonstrate them. --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 20:33, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but as opposed to what? Creating separate articles for them? I think that would be a bad idea. If the main content of a DVD set is the same, alternate covers, alternate packaging, extra bonus discs, etc. can just be additional information on the main DVD set's page. There have been a few alternate covers in R1 as well (S1-4 slimpak editions, S6: Limited Editon, and Redemption: Digitial Copy Edition), all of which still need be added to their respective articles, too. Are you proposing it to look similar to the way that Memory-Alpha does their alternate book covers? For the record, I don't like how they combine their DVD collections from all regions, but perhaps their method of showing the different covers in the sidebar is another option for your proposal. --proudhug 20:53, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, exactly like that book page is what I had in mind. That DVD page with the images on the sidebar looks horrific in my opinion. --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 21:04, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

We have a problem[]

Looks like Wikia have inserted some new policy where if you search a username without writing User: first it still goes to their page e.g. just writing Proudhug directs to your page (and not as a redirect). This causes problems with users who have names that are things on the show, e.g. Deep Sky now just goes to a user page. In that instance it's quite important that such a thing doesn't happen, and could be work if, say, a user comes along by the name of Jack Bauer. What do you think we should do about this? --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 17:26, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

It seems it's not a problem. In the case of a conflict, it takes you to the main namespace, rather than the User namespace. Try "Michelle Dessler" and "User:Michelle Dessler". --proudhug 22:26, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Images question[]

Figured you were the best person to ask about this: I've been going through and replacing a bunch of images these past few days and it seems like many times the thumbnails refuse to update. The Day 7 6:00pm-7:00pm page is an example, that image of Jack choking out Bill I replaced it with a non-watermarked screencap from the DVD on May 22nd and now it's May 26th and the thumbnail has yet to update (though when you click through to the full-sized image you see the replaced version). I'm not sure if it's my browser cache or if there's something wrong with the wiki, or if it's just delayed (though sometimes it updates instantly and other times it doesn't). SeanPM 02:03, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm seeing the non-watermark version, so it must be your cache. --proudhug 02:05, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Isn't it worth noting that Ethan doesn't know about Jack not being involved? It's kind of a moot point of his resignation if he knows. Alexisfan07 5 May 2009

The problem was that your comment was an OOU statement. --proudhug 17:23, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Season 8 Icons.[]

Are you already making the Icons for Season 8? Tony Almeida 24 04:54, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I have no idea what you're talking about. --proudhug 01:46, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
On the top of Jack Bauer's page, there are Icons, when is the Season 8 one being made? Just curious. I'm already ready to put 'em up next January, 2010. :) Tony Almeida 24 11:57, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Why would we include icons for season 8? Jack hasn't appeared in Season 8 yet. --proudhug 12:16, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I mean for anyone when Season 8 hits the air, it's good to be ready. :) Tony Almeida 24 06:38, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately that is against our spoiler policy, Tony Almeida 24. Also please note that uploads with capital letters in the file suffix are not permitted anymore as per the image policy. The image you uploaded Tony that has your name typed on it has been deleted for this reason. Feel free to upload it again, without the caps! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 12:43, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, already done man. :) Tony Almeida 24 14:19, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Dude, it's only April 2009! What's the rush to get an icon up for an episode that airs nine months from now? It'll only take a minute to do when the time comes. --proudhug 15:29, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I was just wondering if you were making them, it just dawned on me one day. Tony Almeida 24 14:19, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Proudhug. I've seen your 24 collection and I think it is great, mainly because I enjoy looking at pictures detailing fan collections of any type of media. I was wondering if you could, perhaps, scan the comics for people who aren't able to purchase them where they reside. It would be much appreciated.--Citizen91 15:13, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

1) It's illegal.
2) There are in fact ways for you to legally obtain copies online.
3) I don't have access to a scanner.
4) I'm a lazy bastard.
Good luck! --proudhug 16:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Deleted article[]

I noticed you deleted an article I created about a location; the Willough and Willingham parking lot from Day 1, where Jack drove with Ted Cofell. Since I hadn't noticed I had no chance to contest it, but what was the reason? Thief12 04:04, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that. The reason it was deleted is because "Willough and Willingham" is not an address. Each of the two streets is worthy of their own individual articles, but the intersection itself is not. Also, Simon complained about the terrible quality photo with a Fox logo on it, which could've been replaced with a better DVD capture. --proudhug 01:11, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Can I ask why you removed my timeline entry? (RangerSmith 16:16, 27 March 2009 (UTC))

That section is for theories on when Day 1 takes place. You merely added information about the year 2011. --proudhug 01:08, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Good job.[]

I just wanted to stop by and say good job. I, myself being here since January, 2007 have noticed how well you've been doing, keep up the great work, boss, lol. :) Tony Almeida 24 08:30, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words, Tony. However, I hardly think of myself as anything remotely resembling a boss. I'm just an active user like any other. I've just been here the longest. --proudhug 01:06, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome, well I see you as a Role Model and a Leader and I hope you get to meet Kiefer himself. :) I may be able to meet him myself soon if I just get the money to drive there. Tony Almeida 24 01:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Haha, funnily enough I've never been a Kiefer Sutherland fan. I greatly appreciate his professionalism and dedication to the show and the character, but otherwise, I've never been overly impressed by him. I've been a fan of the format of the show since the beginning, however. Actually, I've been advocating for years that the show could be greatly improved if they let go of the Jack Bauer character and explored other options. However, realistically that would sadly result in the shows cancellation, I'm sure. --proudhug 02:03, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, maybe. I think it'd be funny though, it doesn't have to even take place over Terrorist attack days, it could be just some guy at work all day and boring. Of course, that would be...boring. But think of the possibilities. :) Tony Almeida 24 06:44, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I've been doing icons on characters from seasons one and two. In the markup, is there a real difference between Icons|s2|, and icons|s2|? I've been doing the former up till now.

Mike34er 16:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I'd be grateful if you could comment upon the new "No Image Yet" picture I have uploaded. Thanks! --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 21:56, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

I put some input there too.
Not to change the subject, but this idea of mine really doesn't need its own heading anywhere. I just noticed that Proudhug tagged the "oou" icon to a disambig page, and a thought came to me: can't we just put the icons:oou template directly inside the disambig template itself? Won't that post the icons on all those disambigs automatically? Might save us some time. You guys think I should I try that? Blue Rook  talk  contribs 14:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Character numbering[]

Sorry about the recent wacky numbering in unnamed characters pages. I thought I was supposed to use the number with which they are credited in the show, which doesn't follow a strict order. Thief12 21:51, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

That's alright. Following the naming conventions of closing credits would never work. We'd end up with thirty characters named "Agent #2" or something. --Proudhug 16:18, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

General Benjamin Jumanji[]

I took care of all the vandalism caused by General Benjamin Jumanji, but you're probably going to want to suspend him and do something about his user page.    CANADA DRY    talk    contribs    email   21:12, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

... you've been cracking me up. This has to be the funniest edit summary I will ever see, and best of all, it's only comprehensible to a tiny handful of recent changes patrollers here who know the habits of a certain one of our other editors. And this is hysterical too. I laughed out loud for both of them! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 02:54, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Aw, I can't take credit for the first one. That was OneWeirdDude's joke. When I saw that user page and that you'd done the welcome, I figured you'd put a similar comment, so when you didn't, I had the honor. --Proudhug 03:03, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
How would you feel about weighing in on the "who shot Emerson" situation? I'm beginning to think it was Tony. Alot of people, including the 24 website, say it was Tony as well. I think we need to examine the scene frame by frame, but the Hulu version isn't helping me much. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 18:06, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the episode right now, or I would. As soon as I'm able to review it, I'll be sure to post my thoughts. Hopefully this gets resolved sooner, though. --Proudhug 15:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

IRS Article[]

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I created the IRS article because the US Government sidebar had a link to it. There are some of the other organizations and agencies mentioned in that sidebar that don't have 24 information as well, so I thought it would be good to have them all working. But if it's not needed it's ok. Thief12 00:11, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I knew that's why you added it, but I just don't think it's a good idea to have articles hanging around with no 24 information on them, even if there is stuff to be added later. I'm not sure when or if the IRS was ever mentioned in the 24verse, but if it wasn't then it needs to be removed from the template, of course. --Proudhug 03:31, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Quotes on s7e2[]

Why did you remove from Day 7 9:00am-10:00am? I think they belong there instead of on another page because there's so few of them. OneWeirdDude 18:50, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree, but someone already created the quotes page. They shouldn't have created it, but since it already exists, it's kinda silly to move them back to the main episode page and delete the quotes page, only to have to move them back again to the quotes page once there are enough to warrant the move. Y'know what I mean? --Proudhug 20:31, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Topic bump[]

In case you don't catch it in the Latest: would you be so kind as to see my post here. I'm hoping your down for some more discussion (or action) with the disambigs topic. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 19:22, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Now that I think about it, is it true that absolutely every link over on Wiki 24:Disambiguation pages will have to be moved to include "(disambiguation)" if it doesn't already have it? If yes, I'd just like to say, as annoying as it will be to do all those moves, the results will be excellent for clarity and consistency. If not, I'm confused! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 07:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Mostly. Some of them might no longer need disambiguation pages at all. --Proudhug 13:28, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Another bump. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 07:38, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Awesome, awesome...[]

Absolutely amazing! What an incredible encounter that must have been. Glenn's such a solid actor and a universal fan favorite for obvious reasons. Of all the cast I've ever wanted to meet, he's always been in my top three. He certainly seems like a genuinely happy fellow, and I'm interested to know what some of his specific motivational seminar points were about if you find a moment. And about a billion other things: does he even know about Wiki 24? etc. etc! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 22:52, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, he's truly an amazing person who loves life to its fullest potential, which is what he tries to get other people to do. Unfortunately, I didn't speak to him specifically about 24, as our conversation didn't head in that direction and I didn't want to break out the 24fangeek persona and force it. :P I did get his email address, however, so I may direct him to the site if he hasn't already seen it. --Proudhug 23:35, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Did you know the settings change you made affected everyone who visits here? You were out for awhile, but in Forum:Skin and Main Page I and Simon spent a lot of time with a Wikia helper in designing a custom Monaco skin that would reflect the new changes across wikia. Even the Main Page was reconstructed to fit Monaco for outside visitors. I think the default needs to be reverted. – Blue Rook 04:10, 2 September 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

Yeah, I hit that by accident, sorry. I was fiddling around and trying out the new monaco. I'm not a fan at all. I don't understand why the FA and OTD box on the main page is so far over to the right. It looks horrible in both Monaco and Monobook. Maybe my resolution's just too big, so it leaves this gaping hole between the news and the FA. --Proudhug 04:14, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

I figured as much; the FA and OTD are over to the right, I think, to be roughly the same size as those mandatory advertisements. It took me awhile to get used to it, but the adverts are always a tad unsettling. However I don't have the large gap you mention; I suspect this is either 1) the square advert isn't loading on your computer or 2) it's the resolution like you mentioned. For me, there is a gap, but it's caused by an unusually small FA entry, and is found in a different spot than yours, mine is to the right of the news, but below OTD and above QOTD.

I'm going to update the FA so perhaps this will help. On a random note: how do you feel about the creation of placeholders for all of the red-linked OTDs and QOTDs? I believe red links on the Main Page suck, and would prefer bland placeholders to red links any day, especially there. I'd do actual quotes and OTD facts if I had a bunch of them at the ready. – Blue Rook 06:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

Are we allowed to put IU dates on the OTD section? i.e. can we put Hamri Al-Assad's birthday on it? Just thought if we did that as well we might have a few less red links. And Proudhug, it's awesome that you're venturing into filmmaking. I do loads of that myself, I'm going to go into the field someday soon! --SignorSimon (talk/contribs/email) 08:18, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Here's what the page looks like for me. It would look better to have the FA/OTD box moved to the left beside the news and leave the new add by itself on the right (I think this is how it was before). How does this ruin things for a smaller resolution? Also, why did we agree to the Monaco skin? Just because PeterParker asked us? So that anonymous users will have the same look? I'm just curious.

As for placeholder templates, I'd been adding them in as I got to them, but they're still not there for every day, yet. We still have tons of birthdays to add, with more coming every time an episode airs, so I have full confidence we'll eventually have every day filled in. I'd thought about putting IU dates in the OTD box, but I think it would just add confusion. Nothing on the Main Page is IU, so it would seem out of place to me. --Proudhug 13:54, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Judging from the image I'd say that problem is definitely on account of your huge screen resolution. I don't believe that is a common resolution to have, but also understand why you can't stand having that gap. As to how your idea would affect the look of the Main Page, I am bad at predicting that kind of thing, so I'd recommend experimenting / trial and error. Give me a poke whenever you want a screen from me about how it looks on my machine.
Concerning the skin, I don't recall there being much of a choice, because Monaco was announced by Wikia to be the new default:
We have to standardize the way our site looks across all wikis, using the Monaco skin for anonymous users. In the past, communities have used various skins – Monaco, Quartz or Monobook. That's a luxury that we can't afford to offer any more, as advertisers strongly prefer a consistent look-and-feel.
The place that had all the answers for me was: Wikia's_New_Style. It's the most customizable in light of the mandatory ads and increases the size of the community. There definitely is a higher influx of new faces since the change so I do personally believe the stats are true. – Blue Rook 18:33, 2 September 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

You're missed around here bud. I have no idea if you've been able to check the latest intel, so here are some updates: SignorSimon's an admin, I'm a b'crat, the LOST/24 actors page that we were talking about is deleted, and as I'm sure you can already tell, we got a facelift. Hope everything is well! – Blue Rook 22:44, 29 July 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

I saw you too! There's a witness now, so you can't hide :). Just to let you know, I'll be more active on this wiki from now on. Hope I can help out :). Steve CrossinTalk 03:46, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been checking in from time to time, but I've been extremely busy with a ton of non-internet, non-24-related projects, so I've had to step back for the time being. Hopefully soon I'll be able to jump back in full force. I happy that the site is in more than capable hands with Rook and Simon, and things are looking amazing as ever. Keep up the phenomenal work, everyone! --Proudhug 13:54, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

I saw your move of Raja Fenske to RJ Fenske, and something came to mind. Awhile back, I remember asking what we should do in a case like, with Victor, he was credited as "Gredenko's Programmer" but we knew he had a name anyway. Your response was (and obviously still is) an idea that I enthusiastically embraced: we aren't interested in robotically copying the Credits list letter-for-letter; our "Dramatis personae" lists are not supposed to be facsimiles. So we agreed to list them as: Actor as Victor (as "Gredenko's Programmer). What I'm bringing up for change right now, is that we apply that same logic to actors' names. Even though Fenske is credited as RJ, his actual name as he professionally identifies himself is Raja Fenske. "RJ Fenske" is, in this light, an anomaly or error, an alternate name for the actor.
So, ultimately, I'm promoting the idea that we restore the actor's article to his IMDB spelling, and all actors as well. If there is a difference between an actor's spelling between the 24 credits and IMDB, we should go with the IMDB spelling as his article title, and use redirects from the alternate, 24 spelling. We would then appropriately note it on the actor's article that he/she was credited under a different spelling. Thoughts? – Blue Rook 18:36, 30 August 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

It seems to me this is too problematic. The only time I'd think it appropriate to deviate from an actor's credited name is when it's blatantly misspelled. Fenske's name wasn't misspelled; that's the name he was professionally credited as at the time he was on 24. According to IMDb, he was credited this way on at least two other shows. If he later appears on 24 credited as "Raja Fenske," then we would move the article to his most recent name. But to track down every actor's most recent and commonly credited name would be an absurd effort. Do you really think that if Xander Berkeley starts going by "Alexander Berkeley," we should move his article to that name, despite him not being on 24 since the second season? Since this is an encyclopedia for 24, I'm thinking we should name articles after the way people were credited on this show, no?

Indeed it would be a drawn-out effort to track down actor/celebrity name changes. The more I think about it, the more your view sounds better. – Blue Rook 21:14, 30 August 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

Admins etc.[]

Hi Proudhug. I've been asked to look at an overdue adminship request, for User:SignorSimon. It seems the community is happy for him to have the flag, so I've added it. I've also been asked to look at adding another Bureaucrat here, as none are really active. I wanted to check this with you first, so can you contact me about it? If I don't hear from you, I'll go ahead and add the flag to User:Blue Rook. I hope to talk to you soon -- sannse (talk) 09:34, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Timeline updates[]

I've just read an interview with the producers that concerns the 24 timeline - I though you'd like to know as a fellow timeline contributor! When Season 7 comes out, we'll have to start adding the information all around the place. Anyway, here's the link with the information on... it's at the very end of the article - [3]. Hey Proudhug!

My name is Nathan and I'm a wikia helper with the entertainment team. With the roll-out of Wikia's New Style, there's a couple of changes that'll be happening around here, and we'd like to help you transition into them.

The first change is moving into the Monaco Skin. We love your current look, and would like to help you set up the same look and feel in the Monaco format.

Second, the main page will be incorporating an extra ad, and will need to follow a two-column format. Here's a draft I put together from your current main page that won't break once the ads are turned on.

Here are some other examples of wikis that have switched to Monaco and/or have their main page formatted already:
World of Warcraft Wiki - Marvel Movies - Memory Alpha (Doesn't have the main page switched yet)

Would you like me to help you with customizing the skin, sidebar, and main page, or would you like to do it yourself? :)

--Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 23:37, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi again, Proudhug!
I haven't heard from you about these issues, so I'm going to make a draft for the new skin using all the existing colors and layout. I'll post here when it's ready to take a look at, and you can let me know what you think. :)
Thanks again!

What's up?[]

Vacationing? You're missed here man. I hope all is well up there. When you get back, please take a look here. Also I'm curious about what you think concerning this, as well as Wikia's new upcoming policy of shoving their disgusting skin down every anonymous visitor's throat that has advertisements inside the encyclopedia articles and which take up 1/3 of the Main Page, see here. – Blue Rook 23:45, 11 June 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

MediaWiki, among a few things[]

Hello there, I'm relatively new to editing 24 Wikia, generally as I've been relatively busy co-ordinating the 24 Wikiproject on the English Wikipedia. I'm Steve Crossin on there. Anyway, I'm here to ask a few things. While I'm fully aware that this is not Wikipedia, and I've used 24 Wikia many a time, I have a few questions. Is presenting real world information on this Wiki not allowed? It's something I haven't really seen much of here, and I've been fighting rather hard on Wikipedia to not have articles merged, specifically Martha Logan, which is now listed there as a Good Article. As your the founder of this wiki, I thought I'd ask you. Additionally, I read the Image use policy, and it says,

Remember that Wiki 24 is not an image gallery! We have a finite amount of disk space and bandwidth available, and that space would be best used for adding more articles. The old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words" is quite literally true, considering average file sizes for images. Please upload images solely for the purpose of illustration. Generally, no more than one or two images should be used in an article; three images might be acceptable for some long articles.

Now, I have no issue at all with how 24 Wikia runs or works, but the Martha Logan article, seems the image use there is a bit excessive. What are your thoughts on this?

And additionally, I notice there's a stack of buttons missing in the "edit" toolbar, namely redirect, insert image, and quite a few others. I'd be happy to help fix this up, it's a rather simple chunk of code to copy into the MediaWiki:Common.js. I've done it on several wikis, and they work perfectly fine. If you're willing, of course.

I look forward to a reply, either on my talk page here or on the English Wikipedia. And, my username here is Cro0016, it was my original name on en wikipedia, before I got it renamed. Regards, Cro0016 11:06, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Also noticed an issue with the random quote at the bottom of the Main Page, I could help fix that if you would like. And could you protect this template I made, it's high risk. Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by "real world" information. There are two kinds of articles on Wiki 24, In-Universe (IU) and Out-Of-Universe (OOU). We accept articles for every actor and crew person who has worked on the show or any of its spin-offs or "expanded universe" material, as well as articles for each episode, comic, novel, reference book, CD, etc. These are all OOU articles, as they don't exist within the narrative of the show itself. It's when you want to add information into an IU article that things get tricky. Our policy is to only accept information that has been specifically given by the show or a spin-off novel/comic/game/etc. For example, we know that Aaron Pierce served under President Reagan, but, as no other information was given on this person, that's all we can't include in the main body of his article. There are two exceptions, however. The "Background information and notes" section can provide additional useful information, such as Reagan's first name and his years of service. And sometimes there is far too little information to even make an article without adding outside information. For example, a character may mention "Paris" but nothing about it. In this case, we can include the contextual information that Paris is a city in France. Additionally, external links to Wikipedia or other sources is often useful for real world IU articles.
As for the image use policy, that was copied directly from Star Trek's Memory Alpha by the other co-founder of Wiki 24, so I don't know that it necessarily applies to us. As I'm not an image crazy person, I really have no opinion on this. I don't see a problem with long articles having lots of images, provided they're spaced out and not all bunched together. Episode guides, for example.
We're very glad to have someone so MediaWiki savvy with us, and any button additions you think would be beneficial, for sure whip it up and we can add them in. I don't however see the point of the quotation template. The Main Page quote is set up by being assigned per day, rather than randomly generated. If you feel your idea is better, bring it up in the Situation Room and see what response it gets. This is another aspect that I really have no opinion on. --Proudhug 00:28, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Right o, I'll add the MediaWiki code that you should add, on the MediaWiki's talk page, as it can be added only by an administrator. I added it here. It looks odd, but it works perfectly, I've done it on other wikis where I am an administrator. Additionally, as I see that the articles on characters here are mostly in-universe, I have no issue with that. Personally, I'd like to work on the episode guides that are incomplete. I'll probably struggle at firstm being used to writing out-of-universe and all.

I also noticed some time ago, someone messaged you about the Wikiproject, well, he left wikipedia, and the project kinda died. It's good now, but, well, does anyone have access to the 24 Magazine? Would help for sourcing the info on there. Thanks again. Cro0016 06:41, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, you recently deleted the MediaWiki Common.js file. I left a note to the admin who posted the code, they didn't post it right. Could you do it? It's not a code issue, the code just needs to be copied from the talk page to the MediaWiki page, and the line, /* Any JavaScript here will be loaded for all users on every page load. */ needs to be removed. Does that help? Cro0016 16:43, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

That's why I was asking all those probing questions about how to post that stuff > < hehe. I posted again using the process you described, so it should work this time around. – Blue Rook 19:28, 19 May 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

What does OOU mean?[]

Not all of us are fluent computer language speakers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by on 17:19, 2 May 2008

It means "Out Of Universe". OOU is real life, like when we talk about Actors, Episodes, split screens, and the like. The opposite is IU, or In Universe, which refers to the 24 fictional universe. In articles like character, place, and item articles, we cannot permit OOU material in certain places because it is unencyclopedic and is not consistent with the rest of the perspective of the writing. – Blue Rook 22:08, 2 May 2008 (UTC)talkcontribs

Storm Force[]

Hey there! I noticed on Blue Rook's talk page you said that Storm Force takes place between Days 2 and 3. What makes you think this? SignorSimon 16:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

It takes place in 2005, well after the timeline of the first three Days. And I believe it references no Day 1 characters, like the other books. --Proudhug 16:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you think this is something worth noting? Because it makes it pretty different from any of the other Declassified books. SignorSimon 17:03, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

You legend![]

Thank you so much for knowing the location of the pilot episode Palmer Hotel! I've been trying to work out what that building you can see on the balcony is for ages! It was one of my projects to identify day 1 shooting locations and that had been bugging me for ages. Cheers man!--Acer4666 23:23, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

PS how'd you find it out? --Acer4666 23:27, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
Both 24: The Ultimate Guide and A Day in the Life mention the location. Sort of. UG merely says it's on Sunset Boulevard opposite the Argyle, and DitL says it's The Standard Hotel on Sunset, which is next to the Argyle. However, it's clearly not The Standard, since it's only three stories high and the angle of the Argyle view is different. Not to mention there's a huge billboard in the way (which may not have been there in March 2001, however). Based on the elevation of the balcony and the angle of the view of the Argyle, the episode was clearly shot in the Andaz, across the street from the Argyle.
Several months back I started a quest to identify as many filming locations as possible, but never got past the pilot episode. It's something I'd like to resume work on, however. If this is an interest of yours, too, that's awesome. --proudhug 23:52, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome to be a contributor here but you can't use an account name that specifically apes someone else's name. See here, it's the policy violation labeled "Unacceptable usernames" in the bulleted list and it warrants blocking. It doesn't help your case that you copied my sig with few changes, using "LOL" as an edit summary, and then your other 2 edits are useless and could never be construed as serious. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 15:01, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

errr..that link you give me does not say anything about aping other people names or paying homage to them. there are many with Jack bauer as name who are not blocked. all it says is 'unacceptable', i take that to be swearing words. ~And by the way, there is no copyright over ur useername or signature "Wiki 24 is a free and open resource and all information is free to add to or to copy." (see [[4]]), so there is nothing wrong with me copyign it. If that was th case, why was tht not given as reason? the only reason i get is you call me troll, "unacceptable user harassment, hostility, or intimidation", who have i harrased or been hostile at? If username was the problem, why ban me from creating new username? And sory I did not get round to makin useful contributons, i never got chance before i ws banned. I did add to peter kinglsey killin his girlfriend with knife, bt that ws revertd by proudhug (again with no reaosn). You are welcome here. Just re-register with a new user name. Now you know that ripping off an admin's name and sig and making vacuous comments are no good here, you will do fine. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 11:06, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

could you then please unblock my IP so i can cerate a new username, i do not liek having to borrow another computer to even commuinicate with you admins-- 12:44, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

The choice goes to Proudhug, who was the responding admin at the time (it's his call if the block should be altered). I'm sorry, but I'm not convinced you were genuinely trying to contribute to the site. As Blue Rook pointed out above, there was nothing serious or useful in anything you did. I won't be offended in the least if Blue Rook wants to remove the block, but I personally see it as blatant trolling. --proudhug 03:45, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

I think he made this edit which seems to be at least partially in good faith. Since you're okay with it Proudhug, I'll open the IP so he can try with a new account. Don't let us down! Blue Rook  talk  contribs 05:45, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

EMT's Name[]

Can you please check Day 8: 8:00am-9:00am at approximately 03:40 to see this EMT's name? Thanks. --William 09:56, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

SOrry William, but the camera never focuses enough on the nametag and when it does it's very blurry and impossible to make out. --ASHPD24 18:59, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

I think we may make out this one. I can hardly see the name "Acker" or something like that. So with Proudhug's Blu-ray we may get a clear shot of that. Thanks for notice ASHPD24! --William 07:49, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
His zipper is obscuring the start of the name, but "ICOLAIDES" can clearly be made out, as well as a vertical line for the preceding letter. There's no doubt in my mind that the first letter is an N, as "Nicolaides" is the only word it could logically be; a Google search for "icolaides" only brings up "nicolaides" results. But with the recent "Guiterrez" misspelling discovery, I'm not sure if we should assume anything here, though. --proudhug 18:14, May 12, 2011 (UTC)
Damn I've totally forgotten this. So should we make this page "Nicolaides"? --William 03:47, July 29, 2011 (UTC)
I say "yes". If we find any evidence that it was actually another name—however unusual it might be—then we just do a page move at that time. Blue Rook  talk  contribs 04:24, July 29, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia 24 Programming[]

Hey, Proudhug! I work in Marketing for Wikia -- focusing on highlighting the cool things our communities are doing around anticipated high-profile Entertainment properties. I was wondering if you might be interested in being a part of some upcoming 24-related programming that we may have in the pipeline. You can drop me a line on my message wall or by email at Thanks for your great work on the 24 community.

I don't know if you will read sometime very soon, but I made specific page for mentions by 24 workers about your site, the 24 Wiki (User:Station7/24 Wiki mentions by 24 material). --Station7 (talk) 21:59, August 27, 2015 (UTC)
