Biography and career[edit | edit source]
Vernon Willemse was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied at Kasselsvlei Comprehensive High School where he received a technical certificate in Fitting & Turning in 1998. The next year, he started working at Ratanga Junction theme park doing live stunt shows, stilt walking, puppeteering, and other circus acts. In 2003, Willemse was recruited as a trapeze artist for the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus in the US.
In 2005, Willemse decied to take a year off to study Acting at New Africa Theatre Academy in Cape Town. Shortly after, he started working as a stunt performer for various films and TV shows. During his career, Willemse has worked on films like Safe House, Dredd, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Tomb Raider.
Role on 24[edit | edit source]
Willemse played Youssou Dubaku's driver and henchman during 24: Redemption. He drove Dubaku to the football field to collect child soldiers, and later chased Jack Bauer at the school before getting knocked down by him. He later assisted in the torture of Jack, but was sent away to the forest and got shot by Carl Benton. Willemse was not credited for his performance.
