Verbiage question[]
Why does it say "Generally, no more than one or two images should be used in an article; three images might be acceptable for some long articles." There are tons of articles with plenty of images. Sk84life 18:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- That line has been there since the very first version of the policy posted back on 2006 January 2. It was adapted from another wiki; the point of that line was to demonstrate that this project is an online encyclopedia, not an online picture book. I agree with you that the letter of the policy (the numbers) are a little stale, but the spirit of that policy is still in place. Thanks for pointing it out; I'm going to alter it to bring it up to date, of course feel free to change the wording as well if I miss something. Blue Rook talk contribs 18:31, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Personal image limit[]
As far as wikis go, Wiki 24 remains comparatively fair and democratic in that we are unencumbered by useless/self-aggrandizing contribution-based "ranks" or labels (as on Halopedia, etc etc), edit-count-based point-systems for users, or related combinations thereof. (This excludes of course functional roles like sysop and rollback.) I'd like to keep it this way. But I'm also interested in having some way for users to earn the privilege to upload and keep more than one personal image, since the universal limit at the moment is 1 and I don't think this should hold fast for the more established, trusted users. What I have in mind is just: the user uploads their second, or third, image, with an explanation in the file description about its intended use, and fellow users simply sound off if the additional image is permissible. Acceptable? (Note that I personally haven't even reached my quota of 1 image yet, and I don't have any intentions of utilizing this advantage anytime soon, so this isn't for my benefit.) - Just in case Blue Rook's idea doesn't agee with everyone, I have two images. One on my user page, one on my talk page. An admin can delete my talk page one if it violates any policy.-2Anthony4 21:11, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
