Yugoslavia was a country within the Balkans in Eastern Europe at the time of Day 1. It consisted of the republics of Serbia and Montenegro and the provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina. However, sometime after Day 1, the country split into separate countries of Serbia and Montenegro. (Findings at CTU, "Day 9: 2:00pm-3:00pm")

Before Day 1Edit

According to German antiterrorist unit Grenzschutzgruppe 9, Jonathan Matijevich, under the alias "Henrich Raeder", may have trained in secret terrorist camps in Yugoslavia. (Findings at CTU)

During Day 1, after Ira Gaines was killed, Nina Myers learned that an assassin had left Yugoslavia that morning and the threat was far from over. ("Day 1: 12:00pm-1:00pm")

Background information and notesEdit

  • For most of the 20th Century, Yugoslavia was made up of the republics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia as well as the autonomous provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina in Serbia. In 1992, after the Yugoslav wars, Serbia and Montenegro formed the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia which remained until 2003, when it was reconstituted into the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. In 2006 it split into the separate countries of Serbia and Montenegro, and 2008 Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia.
