Zachary Quinto played Adam Kaufman during Season 3 of 24 and voiced the same character in 24: The Game. He is best known for his role as the murderous superhuman Sylar on the NBC series Heroes.

Biography

Zachary, who is of half-Italian and half-Irish descent, was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Green Tree, Pennsylvania with his mother Margo and his brother Joe. His father John, who was a barber, died of cancer when he was seven years old. Quinto graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1995, where he participated in their musicals and won the Gene Kelly Award for Best Supporting Actor and later attended Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, from which he graduated in 1999.

Quinto's first television appearance was in the short-lived series The Others. He then had guest roles in several television shows such as CSI, Touched by an Angel, Charmed, Six Feet Under (with James Cromwell and Sprague Grayden), Lizzie McGuire, and Dragnet (with Christina Chang). He then landed a recurring role as computer analyst Andrew Kaufman in 24 in 2003. In 2006, Zachary starred as Tori Spelling's best friend on her VH1 reality series, So NoTORIous. Later that year, he was cast in the NBC series Heroes as Gabriel Gray, better known as the serial killer Sylar. He worked on the series until its cancellation in 2010.

In July 2007, it was officially announced that Quinto will be portraying a young Spock in the new Star Trek film, simply called Star Trek which was released in May 2009. Quinto had expressed interest in the role as far back as December 2006. [1] Star Trek was his feature film debut. His recent film, Margin Call, which he co-produced, was released in October 2011. That same month, he began his recurring role on the FX series American Horror Story (also with James Cromwell and Connie Britton) as Chad and will return for the second season in a lead role. Quinto will also reprise his role as Spock in the Star Trek reboot sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.

Aside from television and film, Zachary's theater experience includes roles in a variety of productions, including Much Ado About Nothing and Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. Quinto also played the lead role of Louis Ironson in an Off-Broadway revival of Tony Kushner's Angels in America and received the Theatreworld Outstanding Debut Performance award for his performance.
